Hi,

I got selected for further processing and I am from Nepal but now living in Sweden to do master's course. But i dont really know when i might have to go back coz the visa extension takes for ever to process here and its up to them to decide how long my visa will be extended for. So i dont really know where i will be in 5 to 6 months time. Could be here in Sweden or back in Nepal. I asked this question before and people told me that the interview location can be changed by sending KCC an email explaining this. So my questions are:

1) When is the last date i can change my interview location?

2) When is the last date of submitting the DS-260 form? will filling it up early increase my chances or filling it late decrease them?

3) After i get to the last page of DS 260 form and hit submit button, will i be able to change the previously entered informations if i need to correct mistakes or something?

Regards

1. First be aware that in the past people have asked for changed locations and it doesn't always happen in time. So changing location can lead to significant delays, especially if you try change after your interview has been scheduled as the case file will have been sent to the embassy by then and then it has to be sent around as well as new interview scheduled (scheduling usually happens about 2 months in advance of an interview). I think it is safest for you to arrange to interview in Nepal and fly back to do it if necessary.

2. Last date is technically 30 September 2015 but obviously you won't have time to have it processed and an interview scheduled then. To be safe allow for 3-4 months to process forms and schedule an interview. Earlier submission won't jump you up the queue as that is determined by your case number, but if you submit very late you can lose out, either because you do not give them time to process everything before the fiscal year ends or in the case that they run out of visas in total or for your country (either of the latter would be unlikely before late August though as they spread visa issuance).

3. No idea as this is a new system for DV. In the old days one could send new DS230s if necessary, I would assume that you would have to do the same. Be aware that they keep old copies on file and compare them too so be careful about what 'mistakes' you may want to correct. If anything more than obvious minor mistake they might flag the file for closer scrutiny. It is better to take your time and accurately fill out the form the first time than try rush it and have to correct errors.

Hmm.. when you put it like that it makes sense to give interview from Nepal but its so expensive to fly back and forth... ughh. anyways, what determines my interview location? I saw the DS 260 preview and there is a page in the form that asks you to enter your current address. Will this decide where my interview will take place? I will enter sweden there but its not my permanent address. I will definetly know where i will be in two months time from now... but im afraid it will be too late by then to fill up the form.

Is there not a question that asks you where you want to be interviewed? I know we had one on the DS122 that principal applicants had to submit, but I'm not sure how it works now that it is only the DS260 online submission.

It will not be too late to complete the form in two months time. JUst complete it then - it will still be PLENTY of time to not delay things....

So do you think it will be okay to submit my form in beginning of August 2014? There is a big commotion among all the people who were randomly selected and i just kinda want to hurry with my processing too seeing how they're reacting.

Cases are processed in case number order, not according to when you send in your form (unless you are really late then you may delay your interview). Even if you are one of the first case numbers in the list if you submit in August it may mean you have an interview in November rather than October, it will hardly be a problem. People rushing through a "big commotion" tend to be the ones who don't read the instructions properly, and make stupid mistakes that could get them disqualified.
