I read Candy's DS 2035 vaccination report and have some questions.

Candy's age is right in that sweet spot of too old to get a lot of them and too young to get most of the rest of them. Most were checked off as not age appropriate.

The three vaccines that were not checked off as not age ppropriate were MMR, Tetanus, and Varicella. She got the MMR, and it was checked off as complete. The varicella she did not get and was checked off as not widely available. The tetanus she got but was told by the doctor she needs another in 30 days and was checked off as insufficient time interval.

At the bottom the line Vaccinations incomplete but a blanket waiver may be available was checked off. Is this waiver something I can get? How do I get it? Medically she does not need varicella as she had chicken pox as a child. As to tetanus, I only had one as a baby and never had a problem.

The nurse who gave the shots told her that if she is stil in Manila in30 days she can come back and get the second tetanus and the varicella if they have it. If not she can get them here in the US.

If she gets them at St Luke's, wil lthey issue a new DS 2035 showing complete vaccinations?

If she gets them here in the US, will we need to go the Civil Surgeon route to do our AOS?

If she has her visa long before day 30 (June 12) I really don't want to hold her plane up for a long time just for two freebie shots instead of ones that I need to pay for here.

I just want to see what our chioces are and get an idea as to what each one will cost so I can make intelligent decisions.

you don't need to apply for the waiver, it is given automatically if your DS-3025 is filled out completely. the booster shots are not required for AOS unless you see a CS to transcribe your DS-3025 to the I-693. At that point in time, if there has been a sufficient time interval to get the second shot, the CS may require her to have them.

i don't know if st luke's can issue a new DS-3025, i would think not, since by that time her interview would have been over and the original DS-3025 would be in the sealed envelope.

it's odd that under varicella they ticked 'not widely available' instead of writing 'VH' for varicella history, given that she has already had chicken pox. did they ask if she has already had it? did they do a blood test for it? in singapore, i got a test done to show immunity, gave that to the panel physician and had my DS-3025 marked "VH". i did not need the vaccine. not sure how it is done in the philippines.

i would say that you need to get the DS-3025 transcribed to the I-693 by a CS just to correct the varicella column. you can of course get the immunity test and booster shots cheaper elsewhere (local health clinic, etc) and just show documentation to the CS. shop around for one who won't rip you off and/or require that you do a whole new medical.

Thanks for the advice. St Luke's really did check off vaccines incomplete. I heard that there are CS who you don't have to see who will transcribe the DS 2035. That sounds like the way to go.

The time interval for the tetanus is 30 days. She will barely be here by then, so there is no way we will be getting AOS by then. THere are plenty of clinics we can go to get that. Do you know what documents we need from the clinic to show the CS the vaccinatoin has been done?

The varicella is definitely checked off as not routinely available. But St Lukes told her orally that if thjey have it if and shen she comes back for her tetanus booster she can get it then.

'incomplete' is fine if 'eligible for blanket waiver' is also ticked AND the DS-3025 is filled out completely. in your fiance's case, it seems as though it wasn't filled out completely due to the varicella column, so the waiver can't be applied.

she doesn't need the varicella vaccine since if she has had chicken pox in the past, she should already be immune. get the blood test for immunity instead. it was much cheaper than the vaccine, at least in my case. i just had to wait a week for the results.

here is the list of civil surgeons who won't rip you off: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/231026-civil-surgeons-who-dont-rip-you-off/ search for one in your area. some are really old posts, so click ahead to the later pages to see more recent entries.

when i got my vaccinations done privately, i got a printout with my updated immunization history on it. most places will give you some sort of paper/receipt showing you received the shots. if you do it in st luke's you can bring whatever documentation they give you to the CS to transcribe onto the I-693.

Thank you very much for your advice. THe researchI just did inciates pretty much what you said in terms of needing a CS at least to transcribe, as there seemst o be no way around the open varicella issue.

I am surprised St.Luke's did not just test the blood and find the immunity. I am also surprised that a facility that does hundreds of immigrant medical exams a day did not have varicella. But there is no point in complaining as it is already done and USEM already has been sent the report. The objective now is to make best use of what we have.

If she is still there in Manila on day 30 I will send her back to St. Luke's. But it would be silly to keep her there for even one extra day to get a free vaccination intstead of paying $85 for it here. One night in a hotel and two meals in a restaurant will cost that much.

Thanks for the list of the doctors who won't rip me off. I already found one in New York on that list. $50 for the transcription and whatever he gets for the varicella or blood test is fine.

What does a ds 2035 report look like so i can prep my wife on it

Just a chart with boxes to be checked. Your wife will not have any say in what it looks like or what boxes get checked. The doctor calls all the shots. If you have any questions once the finished report is in her hands, do what I did and ask questions here.

Although St. Luke's could have made better choices with Candy's varicella vaccine, they at least understood the legal ramifications of her not getting it that day at St. Luke's and correctly advised her on what she needed to do. I wanted to hear it here since this is the source I trust, not St. Luke's, but they were correct in what they said.

So if you want to fully prep your wife, an important part of it is to listen to the post-vaccination advice she will get from the nurse.

And then run it by the gurus here (I am not one of them, just a shmoe trying to get my fiance a visa).

Nobody has an answer? I think we are looking at CS but I don't want to burn all that money unless I need to.

You are over thinking all of this. Relax. Getting the 2nd shot/not getting the 2nd shot will not cause issues with AOS. Get the shot when it is convenient for you. Use the DS-3025 you already have for filing AOS.

Don't DO-DO when DO will DO. ;)

Hank, the varicella is expressly marked not readily available and not given. That won't knock me out of the box?

I am willing to bet most all DS-3025s are marked that way.... relax.... stress is a bad think. And I will bet my wife's DS-3025 is marked as such also.

That would be great. I will upload it when I get home tonight. Tell me what you think.

Stress? Who? Me? Just because Candy's interview appointment is in less than 7 hours?
