So, Today we had our interview for the adjustment of status (from b2). After a fairly short and seemingly amazing and easy process between applying, biometrics, Ead, and interview date.... We were and are still quite confused. (we have not had any RFE) :goofy:

The interview was scheduled at the Milwaukee office, at 10:20 am. We arrived at 10 am ( freaking out from nervousness, praying, hoping, wishing, over thinking) went through the easy security (just show id and interview letter) went up to the waiting room and put our letter in the slot. We nervously waited and went over a few last details and concerns about the possible 'interrogation' we [thought] we would face.

The door opened, an older man with a strong accent called my husbands name, and when my husband got up, he said it was ok for me to join them in the interview. (again we THOUGHT we would be separated, or something) We followed to him office and before sitting held our right hands up to take an oath. a simple hand raise and answered yes that we 'will tell the truth'

We sat down he asked to see my husbands passport and my drivers license. After verifying our identification he then opened the file and said that he just had to ask some of the basic questions from off the application. He started with me (USC) asking/reviewing my full name, date of birth, current address, phone number, and my city of birth. then just asked me to verify it was my signature on the application.

He then moved on to my husband and asked the same questions to him, Including the checklist of i485 yes or no questions (about criminal history/military.. blah blah)

Next he asked us to provide any extra documents we have showing joint activity.( example. bank statements.) We provided our joint lease (with all rent receipts), joint bank statements, affidavit from daughters school that she resides with us and is enrolled and my husband is listed as her step father on registration, another affidavit from a library club we are enrolled in as a family and attend once a week, and daughters Karate registration/account info with us both listed as parents and that we attend twice a week.

We also gave him a copy of airline tickets from my 2 trips when I went to visit him while he was in UK (he was not my husband at the time of course) and our hotel reservations with my name listed and my husbands credit card receipts attached.

It seemed that he was satisfied with the amount of documents, because he changed the subject while rummaging through my papers... He then directed his attention to my husband and asked him 3 questions.

1. How did you meet her?

2. Did you live in London? (he meant residency/family/what type of visa)

3.When did you first move to London?

My husband answered all the questions (quite briefly) but his attention was towards question number 1, and he directed his attention to me (usc) that I have travelled 2 times to UK to visit and one of the times was denied entry (one way ticket). So he began talking about immigration experiences and his personal travel experience to Canada, and how people's attitudes and decisions are more based on their specific training/professional responsibility to fulfil the job duty and not based on personality or biases or their mood or judgemental mind set. I agreed that "my one way ticket was a bad decision and warranted being denied and the next time I travelled I was prepared and did get entry to UK" that was the only sentence I spoke for the full 15 minutes he rambled about his own immigration experience (originally he's not American) his trip to Canada, and people positions in their jobs.

****let me just mention, he didn't seem irritated, or unsatisfied, but also didn't seem interested in our case or the interview at all really (just himself) He also never really showed any positive or negative body language, or hints as to if we were doing good or bad. He seemed to be numb emotionally. But sure did talk a lot!! We felt like we never spoke more than a sentence at a time.****

He then closed our file and I could tell he was about to wrap up the interview, so I jumped a bit in my seat and said 'you don't even want to see our pictures??' Mind you I was feeling like this interview was useless because he only asked the 3 questions outside of verifying the oh so basic info on applications. and we had spent time (obviously as you all do) preparing our photos, evidences, allllll that stuff we stressed about for weeks ahead.

He said " Ok I will see a few" so we took out our photo album (150 photos) of random holidays, family get togethers, school events, and vacations together. He said he would take a few of the originals and keep them so we gave him 4. One of a holiday and 2 others at our daughters events, and a picture of my whole family (siblings, grandparents) that included my husband. (literally the whole process of him looking at our album and selecting the pics was like 45 seconds)

He then stood up and said ok I will review the info and you will hear from us in 2 or 3 months.

I said 'THAT LONG??' and he said well sometimes it takes 2 weeks and sometimes 2 months.

So my husband said "can I have some stamp in my passport for a pending status or something" and he said " No not today, ok nice to meet you, good luck have a nice day" and we left and said thanks.

So basically.. although it seems like a lot of typing the interview was seriously less than 30 minutes, but 20 of them were spent with his babble and own conversation about his experiences.. and he never gave even a slightest idea to us of happiness or not so happiness. or of what would happen in the decision.

We are confused, wondering why he didn't ask more questions...he literally didn't ask about our relationship, why he filed an AOS after coming here on a visit, our jobs or family life, or ANYTHING! not even our marriage!! :huh2: He doesn't know a thing about our life.. . Was it that clear cut that we would be approved?? Or was it that clear cut that we would be denied??? we are just now W.A.I.T.I.N.G. confused and hoping someone here has some input on ####### just happened. :clock:

ps. I honestly feel like that was a fake interview. or he didn't actually work there or something.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: To people trying to get a feel for the interview process, I personally wouldn't recommend that you take advice from this experience or imagine that this is a typical interview. because from what we know about other peoples experiences, what happened today was some x-file . My husband says don't stop reviewing practice questions together or gathering evidences, and go fully prepared. MMmmm ok BYE

This interview went well in my opinion. If there were doubts, it would've gone really bad. Just keep checking your case status. You'll be approved soon I'm sure.

P.S I had my AOS interview in Milwaukee and they only asked the "Where did you meet" question. I was approved a few hours after.

I think they look at how likely a national is known for fraud. Now, I may be totally wrong, and top of that, I honestly have not a slight clue if Pakistan considered to be one of them by USCIS. Anyway, to me it sounds your interview went well, and you'll be approved. You'll just have to wait maybe a day or two. In our case, we also got only asked the I-485 yes/no questions, and that was it. We took a boatload of stuff along, but IO did not even ask for them, or looked at them and just approved us on the spot. A week later the green card was in the mail. But then I heard the opposite that the IO was mean and rude to the couples, and it seemed that they won't be approved, and then they would come back here telling us a week or two later that they are approved. So, you just don't know! And yours does not seem like it was an interview where you guys had red flags, or anything. All the best!!! Inshallah! :)

Khudahafiz! ;)

I can't speak by experience yet but it sounds to me like your interview went fine. I would probably be more concerned if he started digging more in your case. The fact that he didn't even ask for pictures it is a clear sign that you presented enough evidence to be approved or not being denied. I read somewhere that the IO have a check list to go thru during the interview and based on the answers, couples body language, etc to their discretion ask more questions and evidence.

Keep us posed when you hear anything on your decision. Stay positive and try to relax now that almost everything is behind you guys. You will get your GC soon.
