Translation Requirements

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:

Translation is accurate, and

so I don't need to translate the documents

In your first post, you stated Embassy personnel told you that you didn't need to do so if they were in Spanish. Based on the answer you were given by Embassy personnel, I would say you do not need to translate the documents.

i hope this helps with the answer that i am sharing. i applied in March, 2014 and prior to applying ...i had to have our marriage license translated my privous divoice papers were also translated. because when you get to the consulant they will have all documents prior to interview. i did this when my husband was my fiance, it failed so months later we married in 2013 july and repeated the same process, but as spouse, 2014. i do not if this will help, but check the internet you can alot of information when filing for spouse.

You don't need to translate Spanish language civil documents when interviewing in Santo Domingo. However, you will be going to the US Embassy there. There is no Dominican embassy in the D.R., no Chinese Embassy in China, etc.

Your interview is with the Consular Immigrant Visa Unit located at or near the US Embassy.
