Hi all,

I am wondering what is the form for an extension letter and where would I go about on applying for one and how long it would take for it to be in my hands.

I assumed that a renewal of my green card would take 1-2 weeks, but after calling into the local USCIS office, they told me it would take 6-8 months for it to actually arrive. My current green card expires May 1st 2014 and is my first green card.

I never knew it would take that long and I am about to leave the country for a short time, less than a year, to visit my grandmother.

Please advice, kind souls of the internet.

Derrick.

NOA1? I am sorry, I am pretty new to this.

I have done the new biometrics appointment on April 8th 2014 for a renewal of my green card. According to my case status, they're in the "initial review" column.

This is my first green card renewal and it is a two year green card that is about to expire.

Thank you for all the help so far.

So, you filed I-751. You should have gotten a letter from USCIS that said that they accepted your removal of conditions. It says "Notice of Action" on top. It also says on there that the letter extends your GC for a year. You need that letter.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You should read the "general" info before asking. Not being rude, but you have failed to read it, hence you submitted I-90. That is not for your case..that is a replacement of your GC. http://www.uscis.gov/i-90

Sorry something is wrong either with my computer, or the website...it truncated my message..then I tried to edit it, but it wouldn't let me and would just resend the first two lines...I'm trying again below...You should read the "general" info before asking. Whatta heck...anyway, long story short, I-751 is the form you need. Make sure to read the guidelines at the "Removal of Conditions from green card" section to see what you need to submit and stuff. Good luck!

Are you trying to say that I wasted $500 on a wrong form and can't do anything about it?

Unfortunately, yes..

USCIS doesn't do refunds unless you can prove the mistake was on their part. You applied for the wrong thing so the error was unfortunately on your part. Refile quickly and move on..
