~Moved from K-1 Process to K-1 Progress Forum~

(organizer hat off)

Welcome to the forum.

The time between receipt of NOA1 and NOA2 can typically be quite protracted. However, recently there the processing times for AOS and ROC being noted by VJ members in the 6 months to 1 year range and beyond. :wow: It seems that USCIS is inundated with petitions and applications. Take a look at the K-1 Flowchart for estimated time frames: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Received a NOA2 yesterday a little over a month of receiving a NOA1.

I wanted to make sure because I'm paranoid, but that's the longest step correct?

It's the longest stretch of being without your SO. Who's to say how long other parts of the process will take. But at least you'll be taking those steps together with your SO.

Sometimes you get lucky and get it fast like you did. It happens for a variety of reasons. Sometimes you get a priority you are not entitled to.. Sometimes you get a priority you are entitled to but did not realize it. And sometimes the cards just fall in the right place.

Don't worry what the reason is. Grab your victory and run with it.

That's why I'm a bit baffled. It took so little time to get it. I expected to wait 5 months, not a little over one. :-D

If it's the I-797 for your I-129f which says "approval notice" in the notice type, with a validity period below it, then yes, it's your NOA2! Congrats!! Approximately, from 2 weeks to 2 months, you'll get the NVC letter with your case number and that they will or have forwarded your case to the beneficiary's embassy.

Also when you have the time, :time: I am personally not sure if you're talking about the NOA2 for a I-129f. :)

Definitely it was the NOA2. :-) I also didn't have to spend any time away. We did the paperwork while she was here, sent it in and received everything while she is still here. She'll be going home soon, so it's timing almost perfectly. :-D

That's awesome! Definitely something to celebrate this weekend! :dancing:

Take this opportunity as well to look up for the requirements needed for the embassy interview at the US consulate website of your fiance. All the best! :)

Sort of correct. You need an EAD, which is normally filed along with the AOS, to work.

So if aos takes up to a year then that means that I'll be here not being able to work or go to school? I thought there was some kinda employment authorization thing that u apply for after u get married, before you become a resident.

The EAD/AP card will be delivered in approximately 90 days from when AOS was submitted, that is, if there won't be any major issue with your application. Once the EAD/AP card arrives, you will be legally allowed to start working prior the approval of the AOS or arrival of your GC.
