I would have not bothered applying for a K1 fiance visa and instead enter the US on a regular tourist visa and get married and apply for my green card that way instead! Since being here I have met 4 german girls and one english girl, all of whom are my friends, and not one of them came here on a K1. They all came here as a tourist with every intention of getting married and all successfully got their green cards no problem. It kinda makes me annoyed, why bother doing things the right way when people do things the wrong way and get away with it!

Amen sister - not the most PC thing to say on these boards, but if I'd have known I would have done it and not felt a shred of guilt.

I totally agree with that too  It would have been soo much shorter, cheaper and simpler

As someone who did enter as a tourist with no intention of immigrating, I would have probably have sat out the K1 or K3 in the UK, or possibly gone back out on the ship on my C1/D visa and not applied for AOS when we did. There is much to be said for sitting out the K1 process, knowing that you have all your ducks in a row when you come, and not being worried every step of the way that you're going to get a denial. Believe me, it plays on your mind. Heck, if I'd had any intention of staying, I'd have been pooping myself all the way over on the plane knowing that if I were denied entry at POE all my plans would be shot to pieces. I also have most of my personal possessions still back in the UK, because I can't afford to have them shipped and I was expecting to be returning when I left the UK.

That being said, do I regret what we did? Not at all. The wonderful thing about it is that I have only spent 6 weeks apart from my husband since we met. I missed him terribly during that time, and I don't know how either of us would have managed the kind of LDR that most here are going through.

Would I do it again? Yes. Would I do it the same? Nope.

I wouldn't change our journey, since it was quite swift. But looking back on it, I might have changed the timing of when I activated the visa. Instead of coming to the US 4 days after the visa was issued (Nov 2004), I would have waited until after Christmas and after the birth of my brother's daughter and gotten married in the spring of 2005. Then again, considering all that happened with my mom's illness and all in April 2005, it all happened exactly how it should have.

I'm not sure I understand the question with respect to my own situation. I love C. I want to marry C. If we didn't have to do this stupid paperwork, I'd be very happy. If I found out we needed to do more paperwork, I'd be pissed but we'd do it. If the magical citizenship fairy waved her wand and we discovered he was American, we'd be thrilled.

Caladan, When you are done with the aforementioned fairy, can I borrow her? Just for a minute, I promise..unless someone else needs her after me!

Honestly at one time I thought about doing it as in just coming on a WVP and staying, got married then applied for AOS. This correct and legal process is a fckin joke, it does nothing

except install a detestation for the USCIS and that other mob over at FBI. My love for my wife is true and very meaningful and our relationship has never faultered throughout this whole

yo yo of a journey, if anything it has brought us together and made us stronger,we have learned to take all this in our stride, hard though is it at times.

It was the people on this site who more or less swayed me to go the so called legal route,

thanks to all you guys hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Regards Scotty
