Hey guys,

you all have been super helpful to me so far, so i'm wondering if i can get clarification on Dual Citizenship...

My Fiance is an American and I am a Canadian, we sent our K-1 application in March 3rd, got NOA1 March 7th (March 18th in the mail). Now that we have just got our NOA2 (April9 & sent in the mail) and we're putting all our stuff together, my question is,do i have to APPLY for dual citizenship?

You are currently applying for a fiance visa, and after you enter the US you must apply for permanent residence. Neither of these things are citizenship.

If you remain married to your fiance, you are eligible to apply for citizenship after you have been a permanent resident and living in the US for three years, but you are never required to apply for it.

AOS for my husband

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You never lose Canadian citizenship unless you give it up. With that being said if you decide to apply for American citizenship you will automatically become a dual citizen.
