Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 31, 2014
Embassy Review : I meant to write my review just after my interview and completely forgot.

I had my interview Sept 22, 2014. The time was for 7:40AM.
My hotel was only about a 7 minute walk away, so it gave me less time to panic about being on time, haha.

As i walked down to the doors, there were already a few people waiting in line. Finally the line started moving, but they only let in one person at a time. I was pretty nervous, even though from the reviews on the website, i had an idea about what was to happen.

Finally, my turn. Go in, show passport and appointment letter. The lady confirmed and i proceeded up the stairs to where security was. It's like your airport security really. The men were very nice, which put me at ease about my nervousness.

After security, you get sent through a door and walk down a bunch of stairs. Then, you reach where there is a bunch of rows of chairs and a blocked off elevator. It's hard to tell how long we all waited until one of the security guys came down and unblocked the elevator. He then told us to all get in, go to the 19th floor and someone will be there to meet us.

We all get to the 19th floor, and sure enough someone was waiting. We all got in line and waited to be next. I forget which papers i had to hand her, i keep thinking my appointment and medical, (but i am unsure this late in the review game). She then gave me a laminated number and said wait to be called upon. I was #3. As i was waiting, i could not help but notice how great the view was! too bad cell phones are not allowed!

Then my number was called and i go up to one of the booths. I was very nervous. The guy was super super nice and made a lot of jokes. I gave him everything he asked for and then he told me to take a seat.
Just then he called me back up. I thought i forgot something or something was wrong but he assured me that nothing was. He forgotten to ask me for Affidavit of Support. Whoops! that was all!!

Then i take a seat again, get called to room #6. Met a woman there who was also super friendly and nice. I think i may have been in there for the interview for 5 minutes. We talked about some of my photos with my fiance and trips around California. All she really asked was what does he do? how did we meet? basic 5 questions or so.

Then she says :APPROVED!

Overall, i was a lot more nervous than i needed to be because they were all very friendly and it was a super easy process.

I will say though, go prepared. There were a few sets of people that literally had no papers, binders or anything with them. Don't just show up and waste your time! Bring everything you think you may need and everything they ask for!

Good luck to anyone in the process!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
