or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship.

My passport is valid through December 15 2019. This is over 5 years from the date I will file. But when the process is in its final stages the date may be less than 5 years?

For any requirement listed in the I-129F instructions, it is in regard to the date you file. If you meet those requirements the day you file, there will be no problems.

It is the amount of time it was issued with, not how much time is left until it expires. It simply had to be issued with at least 5 years validity and be currently unexpired.

I believe this is not even an issue because only minors get issued passports with less than 10 years validity . http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/services/limited-validity.html
