So I emailed the Embassy again today and of coarse received a basic statement:

Unfortunately, your case remains under administrative processing. We understand your desire for a rapid conclusion to this case and are proceeding as expeditiously as possible.

Our officers work hard, but are limited by the resources at their disposal. The handful of officers we have handle thousands of cases each year.
Once we have completed our work, we will contact you to schedule a return appointment at the Consulate.
We apologize for the delay and appreciate your continued patience.

I want to write back to them BLAH BLAH BLAH Thanks for nothing!!!! It would be nice to get a response that was more than a copy and paste and someone who is actually looking at our file and can tell us if they are even working on it or ifs its still sitting on a desk somewhere. Maybe I am not asking the correct questions to get a better respsone.

There's no way there are going to tell you what they are doing if you are in AP which can mean field investigations and monitoring, watching. You just have to hang in their.

Look at Schynam they were in AP since September just got Visa. I had a friend in AP field investigations since January they got 2nd interview scheduled in 2 weeks. So hang in there. Sorry.

The blunt way to say what they said is "Don't call us; we'll call you". But don't vent at the people who respond to your email. They are not the ones standing in your way. They are just clerks who were placed in the line of fire by the real culprits here, whose identities you will never know.

AP sucks, really really bad. No reason to have it other than the people runniing the show just don't care. But that is the system, and if you want the visa, you put up with it. No other choice. It would take an act of Congress, yes the very same Congress that can't pass a budget and has a well earned 8% favorabiity rating with the American people, to fix this atrocity.

In the mean time, just hang in there. You will get the visa eventually.

Things should clear up soon as they won't be doing any more DV lottery interviews for Nigerians soon. Think of all the resourses that will free up.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Correction DWheels,

We were in AP since December 9, 2013.

And yes, they won't tell you what they are doing. But I can help Escosbaby piece it together.

They would give one field Agent all the AP files for a specific region in Nigeria. They will not return those files until every last beneficiary on that list has been visited. That's why it is taking so damn long.

In my case, only one person visited folks staying in Oyo State and Oshun State. That much I know cos the guy visited us in RingRoad, Ibadan. Stayed 15 minutes at our place and moved on to the next Ibadan person. One of the neighbors we listed on our form saw them at her church right after he left us.

Then when my Fiancee was called to bring her passport, she met with other people who were also on AP. One of them since 2001. And majority of them were from cities around Ibadan in Oyo State and Oshun State. Their exchanges verified the same guy visited with them and all of them got called after their files were returned to the embassy.

Escosbaby, just hang in there. It will be your turn soon to sing. It got to a point that the Embassy staff warned me to stop pestering them with emails and calls. But I wasn't having any of that. I kept them on their toes.

Good luck.

What form did you fill out that listed your neighbors info? How in the world can they keep someone in AP since 2001? That is just insane. Thank you for your support Sharon! xo and I don't know what a DV lottery is either.

Your beneficiary would have received 3 pages when placed in AP. One of the paper asked you to list phone and address of a neighbor and friend they could contact as they investigate your case.

The lady in AP since 2001 was for a different type of visa. The baby daddy had filed for their kids and her. Don't know why it took so long.

DV lottery is USCIS Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery that gives about 50,000 people opportunity to come into the US with a Green Card. That opportunity is closing for Nigerians now as I have heard.

I called the AP "a limbo stage". Although we were placed on AP during our K1 visa only for a short time, I still remember it to be the hardest period in this VJ. I called my congressman, two senators, even wrote to the president asking for help to move things along...NOTHING helps but patience when in AP.

Do as advised by the experience and be patient. This too shall pass! Good luck will keep you in my prayers.
