Easy tigers... I think OP got it and was well over and done with her medical last March 27/28th...

You are right and I hope it went well for her. Nonetheless, many others have the same questions, so it is helpful to answer them anyway even after the OP is done with them.

But nobody asked about illegal drugs or anything else the exam looked for; just how to get it done without hassles.

Someone mentioned in the past that he goes to pot parties but doesn't smoke the stuff yet was worried about second hand smoke. That is the kind of thread where drug advice (i.e. don't do it and stay away from those who do) is warranted.

Just my two cents.

Yep, I'm done with my medical. It only took me one day to do it. :)

You didn't notice that lalabobe asked for tips and recommendations despite the fact that it was in the original post and that I quoted it in big bold letters in my previous post. How did you miss that?

I thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.

Yup I read where he asked for tips and recommendations...

Then I read your off the reservation comment.... I should expect that from you I guess.

Hank, thank you for always making sure that the answers from the other members are accurate to avoid any confusion.

That's right. and I'm sure, OP and the PI forum don't need to see 2 helpful gentlemen arguing over semantics.

There are a plethora of references for taking the medical exam in SLEC. That's the exact reason why there's a pinned thread about this topic. Still a helpful guide, except that the cost is outdated. This topic won't definitely be not the first choice, as OP was only asking if advanced medical is OK and if there's any tip.

Emphasis on reminders and notes.

Glad everything went so well for you. Best of luck on the rest of your journey and on your new life in my country with your fiance.

It took me hours to read all the guides here, but i don' t mind. Everyone else should too. But sometimes a quick answer from another member can be useful as well. That is why I don't just cite the guides. I wish everyone to be as informed as possible, as I am certain we all do.

Why are you pretending that St. Lukes doesn't ask about illegal drug use?

Why are you pretending that St. Lukes doesn't ask about illegal drug use?

The SLEC doctor also asks about suicidal thoughts by the applicant and whether applicant has ever seen a therapist/psychiatrist and related to this, whether the applicant has taken drugs - illegal or prescription. Answering yes to these questions triggers a referral to a secondary opinion and evaluation by SLEC's own psychiatrist. This costs an extra PhP 1000.

When I applied for a tourist visa to Russia (I was there four times), I was asked if I ever used illegal drugs. I will withold a statement on whether or not I did since that would not be helpful here. But absent some hard proof that I did, like an arrest, I would have to have been a world class idiot to say "yes".

I got each of the 4 visas in 3 to 5 days without question.

I am not suggesting anybody lie to the doctor. I am just telling you of my own experience so you can draw whatever advice you can get from it.

BTW Moscow checks for drugs too. What they do with the data I don't know, as my two former Russian fiances sweared to never have touched the stuff. So I never checked into that.

For those who were at least a little nervous, please don't worry about that. You wouild have to be a robot to not be at least a little nervous. But if you know your health is good and you know you are drug free, you should not expect any problems.

My wife will be doing her medical exam soon, and she would be a little shy to pull her pants down and let a nurse give her a shot unless they were in a private room with the door closed. Are the shots given in a private room with the door closed?

All physical exams are done privately with the doctor.

All physical exams are done privately with the doctor.

And with a doctor of the same gender as the applicant, i.e. female doctor for girls and male doctor for guys.

The shots go in the arm. Does that need a private room?

So that I could make use of my approved leaves at work on the 27th (Thursday) and the 28th (Friday) Â of this month I am planning to do my medical examination on those said dates (which is two days from now). I just thought its a good idea since my interview date is now approaching , which is on May 8th. I already checked Hank's website just to make sure I have all the requirements needed. Is there any tips and recommendation that I need to know guys?Â

Thanks!
