Hey guys,

So I recieved my K1 visa (stuck inside my passport) in the post today and ... I accidentally opened the sealed envelope. PLEASE don't tell me I'm stupid because I've spent all afternoon beating myself up over it.

Anyway, the question is: what do I do now?! Do I send my passport/visa + the sealed (well, now un-sealed) packet to the embassy with a letter ASAP? Or do I wait for a response from the embassy (I sent a query about this via their contact form).

Any thoughts/advice/guidance would be so appreciated! I am due to fly to the US in 6 weeks so whatever I do, it needs to be the right thing and it needs to happen as quickly as possible.

Contact the embassy first. Take your packet back to the embassy and have it resealed.

Are you close enough to go to the embassy yourself? Do they have an option online to make an appointment? I would do that ASAP. I have read that if the packet is opened then only the embassy can reseal it. It seems like you have plenty of time so it shouldn't be a big deal. But the sooner you can make the appointment the sooner you can stop beating yourself up over it! idea9dv.gif

Thank you all so much! :) . My nearest embassy would be London. I called them and the lady redirected me to a contact form online ... so I will anxiously await a response to that. I just really hope that a real person gets back in touch with me and the information is useful, because I used the contact form once before and the response was not actually a direct response to the question. Ugh, fingers crossed eh?
