I've had to look for a second job temporarily and it looks like I'll be a server at Ch-ch....'s.

I asked for just 15-20 hrs. per week - I figure I've spent close to that on VJ, so at least I'll be getting paid. :P

Hope I can juggle it all....sigh. :(

Good luck. :) Do you get free food or discounts?

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

I worked at a restaurant once. I was around 17 or 18 I guess. I did short order in a small local Italian place. This is totally unrelated but... I always think of it when I think of working there - there was a guy who worked there, I think his name was Rick, and it was during the summer and really hot with no a/c and I was working over pots of boiling water. He was standing there one day staring at me and comes out with, "Did you know that you're beautiful when you sweat?"

I was like... #######????

LOL That is an awesome story.

Steven, good luck. It's good money and it's good exercise, but don't wear yourself out with it.

Thanks, Alex. I don't know how long I'll be able to manage 2 jobs, but I know the shifts are really short - 3-4 hrs. and on a busy night, I'll make some good tips. Here in California, the restaurants are required to pay the servers minimum wage, which is good. Back in Arizona they pay below minimum wage for servers.

That *is* awesome about the min. wage, STeven...I remember making 2.32 an hour plus tips at Country Kitchen back when...yuck!

I would like to get a serving job temporarily too...I always enjoyed it, actually...but I honestly don't think my back would take it anymore...it hurts most of the time not even doing physical work...but much better than it was a year ago. *sigh*

Anyway, good luck with the job, and think of all the moola you'll be rakin in...one good point anyway. I always loved being able to have cash in my pocket on any given night back then, and not having to wait for a paycheck...:) M.

Good luck! My husband is still doing a few shifts at McD's to complement our income (he's a math teacher as well). He's been working there since college (to pay for the trips to see me) and hates it. He can't wait to get a new job that pays better and he can quit his Mc uniform or for me to find some work as well.
