What's sad to me is that there is so much discrimination and blame, all of us are immigrants. At one time or another our ancestors came to the US. Native Americans are the only ones that were here. All races commit crimes, not just illegals aliens. Illegal aliens can be from any country, even Europe!!!

I am a Mexican American, four of my uncles served in Vietnam. One of my uncles shot himself inthe head after coming back from the war. I was born here, as my mother, father and grandparents. My father served in the millitary. My brother is in the Navy, I feel very proud to be an American but I am still a Chicana. You are correct, and even Native Americans migrated here if you go back far enough. There were a lot of interchanges between the people of what are now US and Mexico over the last several thousand years, not just in recent history. Some people have short memories. Most Americans living today are decendants of immigrants who arrived here in the last 400 years, and most much less than that. I guess some people think that since the founding fathers of the US were a bunch of English-speaking white people that defines what a "real" American is. It doesn't.

Some people don't appreciate the depth is the history between the US and Mexico. I feel fortunate to live in a place where is is normal for people of different ethnic backgrounds to intermingle and intermarry, though we still have plenty of ignorance and prejudice here, so I understand what you are saying. Some never will, and I guess you already know that all too well.

There is no excuse for bashing people of Mexican-American background because of the misdeeds of a small percentage of the illegal immigrants in this country. And that fact is that most illegal immigrants are honest, hard-working people just trying to feed their families. This is why we need to stop all this illegal immigration ####### and get back to a real guest worker program that is well-regulated. The fact is that we have a de-facto guest worker program now but it's all done under the table illegally now so there is no way to filter out the bad apples.

The fact is that the US is an English speaking nation. Hence the bill of rights etc all being written in English. Hence you writing in this forum in English.

I do not think anyone has a problem with legitimate Mexicans but illegal immigrants and their amnesty is a slap in the face for all legal immigrants.. What America should do is send all of their criminals over the border to Mexico and see how they like those apples when the role is reversed..

What I am waiting to see is exactly how the Democrat congress and house will tackle this issue. Or will they simply beat around the bush.

After all they are apparently for the average Joe, unlike republicans. Will they get tough on illegal immigrants and the businesses who hire them or simply allow America's standard of living and quality of life to fall further, at the gain of business owners..
