Apparently the new game is to make veiled hints as to who might have pressed the report button in a given thread. I am here to tell you that some of you are ####### at that game.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Sure, cry me a river. Not at this time? Then when? Retailers that pay higher wages still make it out there. Costco is doing just fine paying their staff some 65% more than WalMart. How do they do that and don't go under? According to your argument, that can't happen. And yet, it does. In real life. Trust me, I've been to their stores.

But in all fairness, Costco is a club that charges an annual membership fee and some of their prices aren't much if any better than other stores. This helps offset their increased wages. And to save on many things you must be in quantity. It is a different business model than a mass retailer. I applaud Costco for their segment leading wages.

Here's a list of average hourly pay for retailers (nationally)...

& I'm not seeing Costco averaging $17 an hour based on this...

& here's a look at Wal-Mart's high & low per hour...

Determining Eligibility

Under federal rules, to be eligible for benefits a household’s income and resources must meet three tests

  • Its gross monthly income — that is, its income before any of the program’s deductions are applied — generally must be at or below 130 percent of the poverty line. For a family of three, the poverty line in federal fiscal year 2014 is $1,628 a month. Thus, 130 percent of the poverty line for a three-person family is $2,116 a month, or about $25,400 a year. The poverty level is higher for bigger families and lower for smaller families.
  • Its net income, or income after deductions are applied, must be at or below the poverty line.

Same goes for Sams Club and they don't pay their workforce at the Costco level.

I and millions of americans made a lot of money owning Wal-mart stock. Why are you against this. The question you should be asking is why a pickup truck is costing near $30,000 due to overpriced union labor......What if everyone belonged to a union. The person sweeping a floor at Wal-mart made $60,000 per year like an UAW worker. You had to wait around for an hour to get someone to reach that top shelf because he just went to lunch and the associate standing next to you says with a smile.... not my job man.Union contract says I cannot climb that ladder. That TV you want cost $15,000..... got to cover that high labor bill you know.

Yes, that irks me too, that people are capitalizing off the sold at Walmart, which just encourages more . Greed has no ethics.

Costco doesn't even pay at "Costco" level. The only company I know that pays well above minimum wage for entry level employers in the retail/food service industry is In 'n Out, which starts employees about two dollars an hour above that rate. But, of course, they just don't hire anybody: They almost exclusively hire local college students.

Well, I'm not seeing Wal Mart paying even federal minimum wage on the low end for a number of positions. Maybe one should take this data with a grain of salt.

The workers hold similar positions at these companies. Levels of experience vary but the wages are representative of the average worker we interviewed.

The two people on the left are getting paid less because they're black.
