Sorry if I am boring everyone here with my questions, but when I moved to IL in Oct/2011 I mailed my change of address form to the USCIS. I tried doing it online and wasn't being able to for some reason.

As I'm getting ready to file my N-400 and I was wondering if by any reason the USCIS didn't receive my change of address back then, it will be an issue when I send my application having this address. I called the USCIS and they said that they can't verify my information and when I tried making an INFOPASS appointment, there are no appointment times available for the next month. Does anyone recommend just showing up at the Field Office and try to get that information? Or should I just do another change of address online? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also, I requested Tax Return Transcripts from the IRS dating back to 2008 (because of the one trip I had where I stayed abroad over 6 months in 2009-2010) and they only sent me 2010, 2011 and 2012. They said they can only send Return Transcripts from the current tax year and three prior years. But that I can request an Account Transcript. Would that be acceptable or does it have to be a Return Transcript?

I would just file. If you did it in 2011 then just go ahead and file. I moved August 2013 and I don't have proof I changed my address either but I know I did do it online. So I am going ahead and applying next month

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

I don't know about the change of address question, but just to address this -- if you're applying based on 3 years' worth of residence and marriage to the same USC, don't bother with 2008 tax data. Send USCIS exactly what they ask for, answer every question truthfully and thoroughly, but don't volunteer any information. It's a fine line but just think carefully about every answer you're giving and every piece of documentation you're providing. USCIS provides detailed checklists on what you should include with your application, so follow the checklist to the letter and call it a day. If they want more, they'll let you know.

So back to your specific case, if you're applying based on the 3-year rule, only include your tax return data for the last 3 tax years you have in your possession. So if you were applying today, you should submit tax return transcripts for tax years 2010, 2011, 2012, and you should expect to have a transcript for tax year 2013 on hand for your interview since presumably your interview would occur after April 15th. And if you're filing after April 15th, just include transcripts for tax years 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Thanks guys!

I managed to make an Infopass appt for March 18th so I'll figure out the address issue then.

I'd like to file my N-400 now but my husband seems to think that if we have only one of the trips on the form it will decrease the risk of denial in case the IO makes a big deal out of it. So I was just trying to get as much proof as possible that we had ties to the US, and that we paid taxes while there. The tax transcript will also show that I didn't work while I was away. I just want to make sure I've got my bases covered! We just sent the 2013 tax docs to our accountant so hopefully these will be filed soon and we'll have the transcript by the time I file in June.
