KNIGHTSBRIDGE DOCTORS - VISA MEDICAL INFO

Hi All, just some information regarding the visa medical. My fiance and I went to london today for her medical exam. My partner said the medical was way beyond the scope of what is mentioned on their website (to which the doctor admitted the website information is not correct) and any information on this site. She was checked Head to Toe, breast exam, nether regions examined, any surgical scars questioned. Because she brought a printout of her medical history the female doctor said she needed fiurther medical reports from specialist and outcome and prognosis of previous medical stuff such as gallbladder removal, acid reflux, colonoscopy results from 7 years ago. She stated this was because she doesnt trust anyone at their word because she got burned by one dishonest person.

Even though my partner had a letter from her GP explaining any ongoing medical conditions and how they were controlled and provided a printout from the GP of past medical history, The doctor said she needed specialist reports etc.. We were both totally shocked and very down after this experience, coupled with the train ride from hell, it was not a good day. However we will carry on and jump through the hoops.

I thought I should let people know that if you have any or had any medical condition in the past they will require either your actual medical records or a GP letter and specialist letters stating the onset, tests, outcome, treatment and prognosis for each and every one.

I'm sorry to say this, but please refrain from hurling any sarcastic comments or judgements over what you may misconstrue as windging on my part as I am not. I'm just giving people a heads up as to what to expect so you can avoid disappointment by being better prepared. The reason I say this is because I have received lots of support on this forum, but I have also seen many people, myself included, get slated for asking questions or making observations about the visa process.

Be prepared for the medical if you have any past or present conditions. Oh they also wanted to give her a flue jab even though I pointed out that its seasonal. The nurse went on to say she needed it for her adjustment of status in the states. My partner refused. Good Luck!

Just jump through the rings. I don't know why you would refuse a jab, for the sake of £29.00, you get rid of the uncertainty come AOS. If you read the Knightsbridge Doctor thread, closer to the end, you will see that your experiences are not exactly unusual. I had to get a 24 hour blood pressure monitor the next week, and the girl sitting beside me had to get a letter from her doctor.

It is just one of those things.

Just get the letter, and get ready for the interview. You should be excited to be this close to finalizing the process :) Chill!

K1 AOS:

May 22nd: Sent away AOS package Day 1

May 27th: Notification via text/email confirming receiving package. Day 5

May 29th: NOA's recieved on 29th May Day 7

June 2nd: Biometrics appointment for June 16th arrives. Day 11

June 16th: Successful Biometrics. Day 24

Obviously has changed significantly since I did mine

I didn't have any hoops to jump through afterwards (I had pneumonia as a child and was worried scars etc might show up on the xray so came armed with a doctor's letter!) but I did feel that the exam was a little bit more than I had anticipated. She checked head to toe for any scars and the genital exam was more than expected. It might have just been me being paranoid but she seemed especially interested in my tattoo, said something like, "I'm particularly interested in the meaning of this tattoo." When I told her it was just symbols from my favourite book series and explained how much of a book geek I was, her manner loosened up a little. Sounds silly now I've written it down but it was just the way she asked that made me wonder. Generally though she was very friendly and efficient. I just sort of shrugged it all off afterwards as it was another step closer. At least now you guys can try to put that bit behind you, get the letter sorted and move on to the next part :)

The worst part apart from the fee was the huge bruise I had on my arm from the blood test! I had to wear long-sleeved tops in work for about 2 weeks :P

The flu shot is seasonal. Flu season is Oct 1 to March 31.

Well damn, reading this has me worried as back in 2003 I had an operation to remove a benign tumour from my knee. The paperwork detailing the operation itself seems to be missing according to my doctor so I just have paperwork leading up to the diagnosis and the date of the biopsy. Is this going to be a problem for me?

This is the exact wording from the paperwork the doctor gave us:

"Could you kindly send me further information regarding the above condition(s), including details of any specialist care and investigations, current or previous treatment and likely prognosis."

She has also requested in her own handwriting for other past conditions "please give details of onset of illness, treatment, any specialist care. Please provide details of treatment duration. What was given?"

Because my partner had ranitadine on her prescription, but doesnt usually take it unless she eats certain types of food, the doc wants the above information about her acid reflux. lol So be aware they may pick up on medication from your prescription and query this.

Hope this helps.

BTW I know it is flue season good.gif , but we will hopefully be flying in June and the flu jab has mercury in it, hence the refusal to receive it. If its absolutely necessary at the time of AOS, I'll Jab my partner myself LOL

The receptionist were really nice and the doctor was fine until I questioned what she wanted and why, just for clarification so I could relate it to our GP. She seemed a bit aggressive but I explained it was so I could let our GP know exactly what she needed as what we gave her was what our GP considers a full medical report. She was fine after and said that none of what she was requesting would affect the visa approval. Its just so she has all the information for the embassy so they don't delay it for further information.

Hope this helps. I wish I had seen the knightsbridge thread beforehand. I only saw the part about ongoing medical conditions.cool.png

...how invasive is this genital exam? I thought they just take a quick look to check you're not lying about your gender.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

It's hard to explain it nicely! Erm...not as invasive as a smear exam but not just a peek. At least it wasn't for me. She put gloves on and handled my bits and pieces for a few seconds whilst saying "just checking for any abnormalities". As I say it wasn't invasive, just a shock as I'd expected the peek test!

It seems to vary. Some folks seem to get a good old gander (and some men have reported having their balls felt for lumps), others barely a look.

Mine was literally *tiny lift of front of my knickers* *peak for half a second*. That's it.

I think I could handle a breast exam, should I be given one, but definitely not some kind of full on gyno exam. I hope it's just a quick peek, or I'll go all teary eyed at the poor doctor! I'll do whatever I need to to live with my husband, but it would be nice to retain some dignity along the way :D

I didn't get a breast exam. There was some discussion a while back that perhaps it was an age thing (that they were more inclined to do them for women of an older age) but then someone came back a few days later, in her 20s or early 30s, who had had one. So that hypothesis didn't stand up for long.

So, I think it must vary by Doctor/mood that day (in both aspects - how much they go rooting about in your knickers/feel up your boobs). Either way, you'll be okay. smile.png

They're doctors, they'll be professional, and I'm sure they don't really *want* to be poking about a lot.

PLEASE don't worry. I'm so sorry if my post has made you feel anxious :( just didn't want anyone else to be surprised by it is all!

I didn't have a breast exam, she actually said "I won't bother with that because of your age."

The genital exam, as lost_at_sea said it varies depending on which doctor you get. My experience seems to be the exception rather than the rule, most people seem to just have the peek test so please don't panic!

I had my medical last Aug and thought it was a doddle. I am a bloke and had the woman doctor. Maybe she did it quick as when she came round the curtain I already had my parts out!! She covered me up quickly. She did say they are supposed to check you out externally for any abnormalities which it does say on the web site.
