I am a US citizen living in Baton Rouge, LA and my fiancé is an Egyptian citizen. I will be traveling there in April to marry. I have many questions about which is the best process to go about.

Do I try for the K1 visa now?

Do I go marry him and come back and file the I-130 form stating he is my spouse?

Can I live there with him while we are awaiting an approval?

Which is the best visa for our situation?

Please any help would be appreciated.

Have you met him before? if not then you cannot apply for any of those Visas ...

He can apply for a visitors visa but i doubt he will get it.

Yes you can apply from there if you are Married,but you have to live there for 6 month first i think.

If you met before you can apply for k-1 Visa if you are planning to get Married in the US.

If you are going to marry him this summer, I would not file for the K1. I filed mine August 2012, and it was finally approved February 4, 2014. We will marry this summer when he is stateside. From what I've read the marriage visa has a longer wait time (due to the extended administrative processing). I don't know enough about it to give you solid info.

K1 - You can only apply for this if you plan to get married in the US. If you're going there to get married, it won't do anything, even if it gets approved in time.

CR1 - This is the one you're petitioning for with the I130. Once you are married, you can apply for that one. I don't know what the rules are about when you can make the application from Egypt, but if you returned to the US to file, you could file the moment you have all the paperwork.

Speaking from experience, you're probably better to live there with him (if you're allowed to) while waiting. The process takes a long time (even longer for Egyptians than for some) and you won't want to be apart while it processes.

That would be my advice. Go, get married, stay there, apply for CR1, then return to the US together.
