Last year I made 10,000 but this year I'm a student and I've only made 4,000 I know that's not enough to support both my husband and I, So if I get a joint sponsor does both our income joined together have to meet the requirements or does he/she have to meet the requirements on their own?? And what if I get two sponsors can both the sponsors income added together meet the requirements?? Please and thanks in advance for your help..

A joint sponsors income should independently meet the requirements stipulated by USCIS. You being the petitioner will still have to fill out the I-864 form regardless of whether you meet the requirements or not since you are the principal sponsor. If you have a member in your household who wants to join their income with yours to meet the requirements then they will fill out the I-864A instead of the I-864. As long as the requirements are met, you do not need an additional joint sponsor. So if one joint sponsor meets the requirements, that's fine.

The correct answer always depends on the exact circumstances. You and your parent can only combine income if you are part of the same household as defined by USCIS in the I-864 instructions. Have you read that section carefully and determined whether you can be considered part of the same household?

Ok I asked the same question on vj and got a different now I'm confused I made 14,000 I doubted that's enough so I my mother joined me that would be 20,000 can I do that or can I have 6,000 in the bank

I think if the person lives in the same household you guys can join both incomes together but if it still doesn't reach the requirements then you would have to get a different sponsor to meet the requirement on their own..

If I get a sponsor and he or she have a child do they have to go by the guideline of 2 people or do they have to include my spouse to make 3.?

It's always the sponsor's household size plus the intending immigrant, so a single parent with one child sponsoring a your foreign spouse would have a household of 3.

What section

I advise you to read all the instructions very carefully. Are you really asking me to do your homework for you and tell you exactly where to look? It's the section about using household members' income. Really, study ALL the instructions.

Thank you and does the poverty guidelines usually go up each year?

Yes. They are expected to increase this year. Whether they increase every year, I don't know. But I would have thought so. Usually by a few hundred $ or so, I believe.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

They did not increase for a couple years during the current recession but did last year, slightly. I expect they'll go up slightly this year too.
