New Year's Eve apart from SO

Man I'm sad Well not all 'woe is me' or anything because I am quite a thankful person and am very happy for my life and my family, etc....but being away from D is shiznit. He's passin the fone around to all our friends and everyone's partying and having fun and tellin me how much they miss me and stuff...and I guess it's got me a lil down right now. Add to that my hip/back is still hurting so I couldn't go out dancin and whatnot, and I also have a cold now!

I am happy he's having fun! Christmas was hard for him, so I'm thankful he's keeping his mind busy. But I miss him and I miss our friends and our life that we built there.

I was on the fone with him when the clock struck 12...he's going to attempt the same for me, but I doubt he'll see 5 am or be coherent enough to dial a fone.

I hate it. I spent Christmas with him and his family in Paris, and that was awesome. He's working tonight (he's a bartender), so he's keeping himself occupied. I went to see family today, but tonight I'm just staying in. I really didn't feel like going out at all. I met a couple of friends for a drink earlier, and decided to come home.

I rully hope this is the last NYE we ever have to spend apart. Even if he has to work, at least I know I'll see him that night. God this is so hard.

What is the hardest part about this whole process? Being apart for the holidays? The frustration of timelines? Uncertainty about when you'll get to see them again?

Pfft, tell me about it. I just got off with my man. It's 9:30 pm here for me which makes it 3:30 am new years day for him. He had a good time at the pub and I'm home overfull from dinner We wished each other a happy new years and we told each other we missed each other. Grr, I hope to save for July trip already. I got the blues!

And you know what? That memory of what it was like keeps me strong when he leaves dirty dishes in the sink. Or when we don't see eye to eye. Or when things aren't financially or logistically just like we want them to be.

And it will keep you strong as well. Once you see that light, once you are in it....then these dark times will actually be what takes your commitment beyond the normal pale.

I know you're right. It's times like these that I feel really far away from him. And I know in a couple of months he'll be here. And on an average day, it's okay, because I'm busy, and occupied... but on a night like this when we should be together, we should at least be sleeping in the same bed, it's hard.
