Dear folks,

i am new in this forum and I already send you my apologies for my question if it's already explained somewhere as I searched in the forum some question that I have but no exact response for what i'm expecting.

I applied for the DV2015 last year and waiting for the result this year. I never applied for such DV before and I ignore totally what I should do once I am selected, so there is many questions in my head that I want to ask but I'll ask here some that are very important for me and for sure I'll find for response anywhere.

So, once I am selected and get interviewed (let's assume this is already the case):

1. Must I need a sponsor to be eligible for issuing visa ?

2. Do I need to specify where to land in USA by myself ? or it'll be specified by an authority ?

3. Do you have any information for the housing if do not have any sponsor ?

Thanks already for your valuable reply.

If you are selected and your number is low enough to get an interview before the available visas expire. You will have to pass a medical and police records, then show you qualify for the visa ( that you have the right education and or enough experience in a qualified skill ) Not all people are asked for a sponsor but some are , it is slightly country dependand and slightly skill claimed. Where are you from and what is your education ? You can land anywhere you want , live anywhere you want, You are responsible for you own housing and feeding and on your own to find employment. As a condition of your visa you can NOT accept most governemnt aid until you have been here more than 5 years. Many people use friends from the same region to help them get established. You can search rentals online in places like 4rent.com or craiglist but beware of scammers on craigslist

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Thanks for your reply NiberiaorBust.

I think I have some clarification from now on.

I am not expecting to have a government aid nor sponsor that's why I am asking if it's a must to have a sponsor as I do not have any friends nor family in USA, so we will be alone me and my family. But if I'll ask to have one sponsor, maybe I'll try to find someone right now.

Answering your questions :

1. I am from Madagascar

2. I have a Master Degree in Mathematics and Applied Science (option Computer Science and Electronics)

3. I have 8 years of experiences as a System & Network Administrator

4. I'm married with one child.

That sounds fine. If you have savings/assets to show them that will help. They may or may not ask for financial proof. By the way, where would your interview be? Do they issue immigrant visas in Antananarivo? Edited by SusieQQQ

As I stated in my first post, I am still waiting for the result for DV2015 which will happen beginning of may of this year.

Sure the interview will be in my country, in Antananarivo.

And as you ask, I don't know exactly if the embassy of USA in Antananarivo can issue immigrant visas. But I had a friend who were on holiday 3 years ago and the embassy issued him his visa. It's just a tourism visa i don't know which type.

I think that if the embassy here can deliver such visas, they can issue an immigrant visa, no ??

Some consulates only issue non-immigrant visas, and I know there are some countries where people have to go to other countries for IVs. But seeing as Madagascar is so far from its neighbors I hope you can have it issued there! Good luck with being selected!

Hi So it looks like you are well educated ( not just meeting the requirements or in something that no one needs like VCR repair theory ) so it is doubtfull they will ask of a sponsor. There are web sites that tout that they can get you free apartments and jobs and cars if you use them to help with your DV lottery . Some people swear that kind of thing is the truth sadly.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

There are a number of Malagasy students attending University in Tennessee. Their visa was issued from Tana but they're here on student visas.

I'm not familiar with the DV though but am certain it is issued right there in Tana. Where are you thinking of living in the US?

Hi NiberiaroBust,

Maybe I am well educated but I am not certain yet if US recognize my capacity. The time will tell the truth.

Could you be more clear, please ?

I do not quiet understand what you mean on "There are web sites that tout that they can get you free apartments and jobs and cars if you use them to help with your DV lottery". If you have some link for the web site you mentioned it'd be helpful for me.

And sorry for my delay response as I was busy on my work and still searching for some information concerning US and the DV.

Best regards for all of you.

Yeah, but here in Antananarivo, it's an embassy but not a consulate.

:-)

Wish me good luck for my DV lottery and we'll know if they can issue or not. ;-)

Thanks.

Hi Malagasy,

Yes, it seems that there are many malagasy attending study in US but don't know where, but as you say in Tennessee so they should be there, though.

Me and my family (wife and a son) are planning to live in Texas State, preferably in Austin.
