Good day!

I have a question about the required documents that are needed when you come to the Embassy for your interview.

This is about the divorcee decree of my fiancee (petitioner). He lost the original documents of his divorce papers. So what we have here is only the soft copy of 'Final Judgement of Dissolution of Marriage' that I could just print out. This is only three pages but it shows the final decision and the signature of the judge. Would this be a problem?

By the way, this is the same document that we used when we filed the petition. And now, we're getting ready for the documents that we need for the interview at the Embassy.

I would really appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks!

What was sent to USCIS during the petition process? If it was the same documents I would think you would be fine with the final decision, but see what the CO says.

CFO may ask for a copy to prove singleness, so keep an extra copy.

As per experience, I was asked by the consul at the USEM the original copy of the divorce decree that has the stamp from the clerk of court. Not sure with others tho . Goodluck!

The same documents of what we have now. I am not sure though if USEM is more strict about this.

Does CFO need the original copies?

Thanks!

whatever document that came from the court with the clerk of court stamp found at the beginning of the document and end was the ones asked. I do not know how many pages it was but probably 18 pages in all.

And yes, they will ask that too in the CFO ( not sure if others were not asked but they asked to see my husbands divorce documents )

If it was good enough for USCIS it should be just fine for the embassy.

I don't think the embassy even bothered to take my divorce decree or death certificate, there were already copies in the I-129F petition of course.

CFO will only want a copy.

If i were you I would bring the original copy in case the IO will ask for it rather than assume or hope that it will not be asked which might only coz a delay in your visa release.

Copies of any documentation/evidence are fine. However, the CO can ask to see originals. I included copies of all my evidence and there was never a poblem. But, some people have been asked to provide original documents.

Best of luck!

The USEM can, and sometimes does, ask for the original divorce decree. Just because the USCIS was ok with a copy doesn't mean that the USEM will be ok with it. There have been many on this forum who learned the hard way. Assuming that all cases are the same is foolish.

Best practice: Go to your interview fully prepared.

... exact working is from "civil authority" and they will put their special stamp on it when they issue the copy... so it may not use the word certified but try turning in copies without that official stamp on the document ....

This requirement is for divorce decree and even death certificates
