Hello, all:

I've done some research on this forum, but I wanted to get some feedback on my specific situation.

I'm a US citizen studying in a masters program in Sydney with the intent to apply for PR here.

I have a Pakistani boyfriend who is also studying in Australia (one year left). He also intends to stay in Australia.

I am visiting my family in the summer and we are thinking of him to join me, so we can travel cross country.

My question is what should he say about his intention to visit (obviously no lying, but the visit is multifaceted)? And does he have a good chance?

  • His purpose isn't solely to visit my family. He wants to travel in the USA. We will stay with my sister though.
  • He's not visiting me because I don't live there anymore, although he will be traveling with me the entire time.
  • He has a relative in the US he will visit.

It's basically our first big vacation together (hoping for one month at least).

Some facts about him:

  • Owns his car/rents a room
  • Studying with one year left
  • has a job that makes sufficient money--maybe 4000/month
  • holds visas to other countries (europe). He will be traveling abroad for a month in Europe, so has been outside country (other than Aus)

He applies for a B 2 visa after he can comply with the strongest ties rule. He must prove beyond doubt that he must return. That going to next to impossible given the info I see here.

Any attempt to deceive or lie about the purpose would be a bad idea due to affect on future visas. I don't mean you are planning to do so. Rather make sure they can easily understand the primary reason for the visit.

He should also know that the actual decision on entry is made at the POE.

Hi, Ning:

Thanks for your help.

Is there any way to solidify his ties to Australia/Pakistan?

To clarify, we would be spending most our time traveling rather than seeing my family. Does that hurt or help?

Or does that even matter?

This is exactly to problem. If there is any question the outcome is probably known.

The real problem is you because no matter where you go he is part of that journey. His ties become to you rather than A or P which are already in question at that point.

So sadly it doesn't matter.

Is he an Australian Citizen or Resident?

Is he an Australian Citizen or Resident?

Can not be a Citizen as he would not need B2.
