We used to fly KLM or Northwest route BOS-AMS-EDI but the layover times on the way back are just silly now.

Amsterdam has a very clean, efficient airport with lots to do between flights. There is an art gallery, casino, shops etc.

I've tried Aer Lingus but it stopped in Dublin and Shannon before arriving in Scotland. I now now that Direct is not the same as Non Stop. I was shocked when we stopped for the second time.I felt like I was nickle and dimed for everything. I even had to pay for a cup of tea.

We now use either Delta route BOS-LHR-EDi or GLA or British airways but we are going to be trying Virgin Atlantic on the same route in July. The short haul is Little Red but using Aer Lingus planes.

I don't find the layover too bad if you get the 5:55 from Edinburgh then the 11:10 from Amsterdam just time for a couple of glasses of champagne and a shower in Amsterdam. The Paris connection isn't too bad either.

I flew United until it took me 2 hours to clear customs in Houston and they were absolutely terrible at getting me to my destination (not my fault, either, the line was just insanely long - the actual customs part took about 90 seconds!!). Would fly with them again if necessary, as the actual on-board experience is fine, but the customer service was terrible.

I've flown US Airways the last three times and they've been spot on, even assisting me twice with delays on the way back to make sure I a) got home and b) didn't have to pay anything extra! It looks like I'll be flying Air Canada for my one-way flight - they've been great when I flew with them in the past.

I haven't flown to see J on Virgin but I've flown with them in the past and they are a cut above. I guess you get what you pay for - but everything on Virgin seems to be just that little bit better.

I've flown from London to Houston a lot with Continental and, after the "merger", United, mostly for work, and I can echo everything Nich-Nick said. The former Continental staff were all unhappy about the merger - every United flight from Houston for months afterwards was announced as "Welcome to Continental, sorry, United Flight ... to ..." I get the impression that the Houston staff have done well to maintain the level and style of customer service, but they have no control over ticketing or logistics policies so those have got more penny-pinching and cheap.

I used to fly transatlantic with Continental, now Untied Airlines, from Gatwick to Newark. They were pretty good every time, as Gatwick was my (very) local UK airport.

I hope Delta have improved since I last flew long-haul with them, out of LAX. They are the only airline ever to get me airborne in a wide-body that was basically unserviceable, with the flaps locking at take-off (20 degrees), despite the airline knowing there was a problem and delaying the flight an hour and a half to try and fix it.

AA sucked royally, as they never seemed to be able to get a plane and a crew in the same place at the same time.

Best transatlantic trip was a transfer from Conti to Virgin Atlantic, VA were awesome.

I'm pretty limited in who I can use, as I like to fly into Gulfport, Mississippi. It's only an hour and a half away from Chelsea, as opposed to three hours to New Orleans and about 5 hours to Jackson. Delta really is the best for me. I mean, I know I could change airline once I land in the US, but that is a major hassle with bags and having to check in again.

I fly from Heathrow > Newark > Cleveland. I use United. They've been ok, but their seats are uncomfortable even in premium economy (the only premium thing was that there was a little more leg room (negligible really) and I was at the front of the plane). Every flight I've ever taken with them has been delayed by at least an hour. I once took off from Newark two hours after I was supposed to have landed in Cleveland! Very frustrating. It was always due to a fault with their planes. Perhaps they should invest in some new ones.

When my husband lived in LA, I flew with Virgin. They were the best. Premium economy was amazing and the flight attendants were lovely.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

I've heard Virgin are amazing. I have a friend here who uses them when he flies to NY. Bit jealous I can't use them.

I am a Silver member on United thanks to many flights from LHR-Houston and thence onto Austin. They were also very competitive flying LHR-Newark, for my many trips to New York. But now that there are non-stop flights between Austin and London on BA starting in March I'll probably end up switching to BA for the incomparable convenience of not having to change planes to get to my final destination.

Kiwinyc,

For us we have to fly into Manchester so it is Austin-Atlanta-Manchester. We are looking forward to the direct flight to London then just taking a train up north. We just flew over for christmas and almost missed our connection in Atlanta on Delta (aka KLM). Luckily when we got to the gate they actually said are you "Mr. and Mrs." and we were the last people on the plane. Saved us that 45 minutes of watching people try to pack stuff in overhead bins.

On our flight back they must have had a new plane because we had the sweet headrest touch screen that let us pick movies and other games to play.

Are you ready for the influx of people for SXSW?
