We spoke to NVC a week ago, and they said our case has been sent to Vancouver Consulate. However, when I checked on CEAC website this morning which shows our case is ready to schedule interview at Montreal Consulate. Since I'm living in Vancouver, I don't know why it shows our case is at Montreal. I'm not sure maybe it's a mistake on CEAC website. Also the case no. we got from NVC start with VAC. Is that mean Vancouver? Thanks in advance~

Hi the reason that your interview is in Vancouver is for two reasons;

1. you filled for a K-1 and Vancouver consulate is able to handle those interviews. i-130's are only handled in Montreal

2. because you filled for a K-1 AND Vancouver consulate is the closest for you, your interview will be set there.

At least this is what i understand.

You might want to call the consulate in Vancouver to make sure that it was send to them rather than anywhere else. Since Vancouver is the only one handling K1's it should definitely have been send there, but you never know. It wouldn't be the first time that they mess something up... And yes VAC does stand vor Vancouver ;)

Wrong!! Montreal does K1's as well. Yes it should have been sent to Vancouver. Has happened in the past as well to others--maybe they will pop in and say what they did to rectify it. I believe they contacted Van and got Mtl to send the info to Van consulate.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yes, it's for K1 visa. I emailed both Vancouver and Montreal Consulate to confirm where my case went to. Thanks everyone! I think CEAC made a mistake.

The paperwork for this is generic. What does your case number start with?

VAC means they sent it to Vancouver. I've seen this happen a few times int eh last year where people get upset because of the wrong consulate on the CEAC site or on their paper NOA2.

Anytime I logged on, it always said "your interview is ready to be scheduled at the Montreal consulate". BUt, I also had a VAC number. I wouldn't be too worried, I am quite sure your case has been forwarded to the Vancouver consulate. That said, good for you for following up with both consulates.
