Ok, this isn't a discussion about the visa process. I just wanted to share something with you all. Recently I have been going through the process of trying to obtain a K1 visa. If you are going through that or some similar kind of visa process and separated from your fiance or your spouse you will know how it feels. Lots of lonely days, lots of days in limbo, lots of sad days, joyous days and everything else that can be conceived in between. Let's be honest here it is a rollercoaster of emotions!!

Anyway, today I was feeling quite emotional, my interview is due shortly, obviously the anxiety of whether it will go in our favour or not so I can be with the love of my life, coupled with the realisation I might be leaving my only son and cat behind is pretty hard.

Today In between my calls to my patients, I hopped online to be with my fiance who was visiting his son's in Philadelphia, I was still feeling quite torn. He then turned around to me and said the boys and I have been shopping today for you. I said, "Really, what did you buy?" He showed me, they had bought, crumpets (not sure they are from England as the sell by date is April), Heinz baked beans and HP sauce. It just reiterated to me why I love my fiance so much. Not the first time he has done this. He bought me a kettle for my visits, a hair dryer and all my toiletries so I would feel at home and not have to bring heavy bags. He is so compassionate, loving and thoughtful.

What I am trying to say, probably not very eloquently is that yes it's hard through this process, so many emotions with making the transition, but it's worth it!!!

Aw, he sounds lovely. I understand completely how you're feeling. Leaving children and in my case, grandchildren, close friends, people who have been part of my life for many years. Yes, there have been times when i thought, why am i putting myself through this! Then I look at my husbands lovely face and listen to his calming voice and know that I can't be without him. We're lucky in that I will still have my home here in Ireland to spend our holidays in. The whole visa process certainly takes its toll on us but we'll be all the stronger for it. Good luck.

I've been getting a bit sad lately thinking about how my family will miss me and stuff. I'm also leaving behind my two cats as well. I know my family can understand that I'm going to visit and stuff, that we can skype, but I feel sad that my poor cats will have no idea where I've gone, one of my cats always sleeps near me and she meows looking for me even if I leave her for the day or something. :(

Good luck for your interview though! I'm sure it'll be okay ^^ I'm having difficulty trying to get my actual interview date as DOS changed their policy about that or something. Told me to call NVC but they just told me to contact London who are impossible to contact because their phone number just sends you in a circle ugh!!

I have a lot of happy days like talking to my fiance about what we're going to do when we get there (he wants to take me to concerts and conventions with him, tells me he has a suprise for me that like, all his family and friends know but not me!! I really wish I knew what it was rofl.gif ) but like today was a sad day because I am frustrated about wanting to find out my interview date and knowing I have to wait around for the letter! And I'm worried because I read about people here on VJ who got their letters too late or not at all, and I of course don't want to miss it and deal with the hassle of rescheduling! I've emailed the embassy and NVC and waiting for their reply. Very stressful! :(

But it's all worth it, like you said :) Every day that goes by is a day closer to being with our fiancés. And once we get our travel card things we can go home and visit loved ones so everything will be okay ^^

Best of luck! Will be hoping everything goes great for you on interview day! :D

That is sweet! Sometimes it's just the small things that remind us why we are going through this.

Holidays in Ireland sound wonderful! I have been fortunate to see a few parts of it, including kissing of the Blarney Stone. My son is 24 and I know he is capable of looking after himself, but mothers never stop worrying, its inbuilt in us. I am fortunate enough to gain 2 more wonderful son's and I couldn't be happier about that. Good luck!

Thanks Otter, My cat will be ok as he loves my son just as much, but he does make me laugh. Twice this week I have woken up and he has been lying on top of me whilst I am asleep!

I just logged in and read your posts about the interview date, that's awful the not knowing. It isn't as if they actually update the CEAC other than when they get the medical reports, so you have no way of knowing.

If it helps they had a date for me around 2 or 3 days after the medical reports got there. They also have now sent me the letter. I received it on Monday, nearly a week later. So I wouldn't be surprised if you get a letter either at weekend or early next week. I will be eagerly looking at your posts to see an update. Good luck!!!
