Hi, I am preparing my whole application/ packet recently. Everything is going well but I have one question i cant seem to find the answer to...

I recently just started a new job with an annual total income of 59,500. i have the offer letter with address and information of supervisor/ owner. Which means I meet the required 125% of the poverty guideline.

However... If I have not met the poverty guideline requirement of 125% in my previous (including most recent) total tax income which is asked for in part 6 13(a)-© does this mean that I may have problems/ trouble with my application?

What should I do/ is there anything else I should add to my application? I am receiving payment in cash through tips so my deposits are not regular aside from the hourly direct deposit in to my bank account.

Should I consider a joint sponsor who could show the last 3 years of income? Thanks for your help in advance!

It is extremely unusual to get a decent salary such as yours in cash, but you could show your bank account statements from since you started the job to show it is regular, verified income.

When you say your income in the new job is 59,500, is most of that tips, ie you could get much less (or more)? If so yes, I'd get a co-sponsor.

If most of it is tips, I'd get a joint sponsor. Tips are difficult to prove and they are not stable (theoretically at least). But you can get an employment letter. Although I doubt it they would put tips on it.

I am in a somewhat similar situation, only it's benefits, not tips. The employment letter states the salary plus "benefits" without specifying the amount (that can change). I came out just under 125% and got a joint sponsor.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I am receiving tips but the pay has been very steady over two months and it is position offering as bar manager only bartending for the time being until sales are consistent and then i will be moved to salary, however yes I understand the possible need for a co-sponsor so... should I just play it safe and get one anyways? or will it cause a problem if I add a cosponsor and then I say I am making 59,500 ? Thanks so much for the responses!

Definitely no trouble if you play it safe.

The main question is, can you prove your tips on paper? Especially if those are future tips? If the answer is no, get a joint sponsor.

I received a Request for Evidence. Please advise

Currently I am making on pay stub from ~ 11/25/2013- 3/02/2014

YTD income hourly = 2837

YTD income tips = 7,034

YTD = 9871

YTD = 9871 for 3 months, which equals 3,290/monthly

3,290x 12 months = 39,480 annually

This is above the poverty guidelines, also I am including a new letter from my employer stating all things required and more about my last 3 months at the job.

Also I will be including w-2's and 1099's from my joint sponsor as a backup, anything Im forgetting or anybody have any advice? Thanks in advance!
