maybe mbp can provide us some more info on what specific religions the remaining 75% of the arab population in the usa are?

all i've found is about 25% or so are muslim, as indicated above.

No. The evidence you cited means that 25% of all 'regular participants in U.S. mosques' are Arab.

That statement is not the equivalent of saying that 25% of Arabs are Muslim.

And one more point from personal knowledge: many Muslims would not qualify as a 'regular participant' in a US mosque.

####### with insults to me? What time to kill? I post a frickin' article and I'm attacked for it? I find it ridiculous the military would seek out Muslims in order to get Arabic speakers considering most of the Arabs in this country are Christian

Can you back this up?

Most Arab Americans are Christians. Only 12% of Muslims world wide are Arab.

http://www.pbs.org/itvs/caughtinthecrossfi..._americans.html

This seems like a wrongly-answered SAT question....

the question is can you back up that most Arabs in the US are Christian

not what % of Muslims are Arab.

I don't know if the original assertion is true, but that refutes nothing.

Arabs in America are Jews, Christian, Muslim, Atheists ect. The original assertion was that the majority of Arab Americans are Christians. This is a fact.

All this quick rush to refute that most Arab Americans are Christian seems to show that many people have no idea what it means to be Arab or Muslim.

I'm Arab, I'm Muslim, I'm 4th generation American, a social scientist, and part of what I do for a living is study cultural values. The great majority of Muslims are not Arab. Most people of Arab descent in the US are Christian. Most Muslims in the US are not regular participants at mosque (lots of socio-political elements behind this). The largest group of Muslims in the US is African-American. Most Muslims in the US do not speak conversational Arabic. There are already a lot of practicing Muslims in the US military; the services need to play a bit of catch up to accomodating them. Stop arguing about this. It's all true.

You talking 'Nation of Islam'?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. No, very few Muslims in the US are NOI. The great majority have moved to mainstream Sunni Islam.

That a much smaller fraction than 50% is not surprising, as it was long known (OFFICIALLY) that at least two countries have Muslim populations exceeding the total population of the ME/NA (the other, not mentioned in your link is India which officially has 173 million--out of a total population of over 1,200 million; reality more like 250 million, which is larger than Indonesia's total population). Actually, I'm surprised that the percentage is even double-digit.

Also, are not cent-percent of NOI African American?
