Placed in Administrative Processing After Interview Approval

I had my interview last Monday in Montreal and got placed in AP status after the interview. However the officer said congratulations and that he was approving the visa and that I would have the visa in 1-2 weeks. What does this mean? How long could this take? We are supposed to be married next month and I am freaking out!!

No....I am Canadian of Italian descent....both parents born in Canada as well. As far as we know, no documents were missing and we provided everything which was asked. They took the time to verify the documents as well, and nobody eluded to any issue whatsoever and the consular officer said visa approved and you should have your passport back in 1-2 weeks and they would call if they had any questions.

Be patient, some people see the AP status and it doesn't slow anything down. There was someone else who said the same thing recently and had no reason to be in AP, took her 3-4 weeks to get her visa from the interview date. If you haven't received your passport within 2 weeks, then start investigating why.

yes, that happened to us too. We freaked out, and it was nothing and we got our Visa within a couple days. :)

I wouldn't be too worried about the Administrative Processing status, from what I can tell that is pretty typical.

IN my case, we weren't approved at my interview because our lawyer failed to submit the I-134 form. So our status said "ready" for 2.5 weeks. Then suddenly it changed to "Administrative Processing" so I knew something was happening, I just didn't know what. Then a day or two after that, my status changed to "issued" and I got my passport back the very next day!

I would imagine your visa is being processed (hence "administrative processing"), and soon it will say "issued".

July 19, 2017 (Day 14) - Biometrics appointment letter mailed

August 02, 2017 (Day 28) - Biometrics appointment at Seattle Field Office

August 28, 2017 (Day 54) - Case is "in line" for an interview"

August 28, 2018 (Day 419) - Interview is scheduled

October 4, 2018 (Day 462) - Citizenship Interview AND Oath (offered same day oath by ISO in Seattle, WA)
