Engaged while divorce still in progress...

Hypothetically.

If a person is still legally married, but already in the ending stages of divorce, meets and falls in love with another person, and becomes engaged to them before their divorce is complete, but only files the petition after the divorce completes: how would that effect the validity of their engagement in the I-129f petition process? Would their I-129f most certainly be refused?

Just curious.

We did this. I was still legally married when we got engaged. We sent off our I-129F a week after my final divorce paperwork came through.

As long as you are legally able to be married when you file you are okay. My divorce was final for 2 days before I sent in my petition. I was approved in short order, and it was not an issue.
