I prayed for Liv Tyler to be in my bedroom tonight but she never showed up, so I'm not sure prayer has any effect on approval or denial.

the poster is asking me what those things that helped why my mom was approved, and if you ask my mom, prayers will be her first answer. I am not in a position to judge you though, because people really differ in all aspects... May God bless your heart Hypnos :)

The 2nd time I applied was in November 2012 and I submitted a new application on December and had my interview in January. It could take less than a month depending on the interview slots available.

I dunno what I did differently. I was calmer I guess. I was late too. I didn't bring any documents with me on the last interview since from my previous 2 experiences they never asked to see anything I brought with me. I wasn't nervous anymore because by that time, I kinda knew the drill already so I was more comfortable being there.

I think the timing also helped because there weren't as many applicants there on the 3rd go-around compared to the first 2.

I will mention it tonight, see if she can pop in.

Meanwhile work on your praying skills.

All very good points! Although not ideal..leaving our son would probably make for a stronger case I agree. Her annulment may also help yeah. I'll leave it to my lawyer to help decide what kind of info and tactic would be best.

What do you think you did differently on the 3rd try that got them to accept you?

I think she could technically get a divorce here, but that wouldn't be valid in the Philippines, and that's not what we want. I want us to be a legally married couple as seen by both the US and the Philippines as we may choose to live in either place in the future who knows smile.png
Our son does have a US passport.

There are not really any tactics involved, you go and see.

The information is on the form completed in advance.

You can see what the time line is for booking appointments is, usually a few weeks, sometimes shorter sometimes longer.

I was working with the same company for the 4 times I was interviewed at the US embassy...first three times I did not prepare so much...filled up the application, not so much savings, I brought just employment certification....but with my 4th interview after 6 years from my 3rd interview ....boy I was prepared like I made sure I have in and outs of my savings accounts for a year, dollar and pesos time deposit for 6 months, income tax returns for 3 years...don't laugh at me pls...lol but I had the us application form photocopied for 30 pieces and filled up (forms were not computerized in 2002) every night for a month before my interview, then prayers every night with the intention of visa approval, then employment certification, shares of stock and land titles I inherited from my father...and lastly I went to a travel agent known in my city who helped me with the possible questions that Consul might ask me, then research of where I will visit , tourist spots, being my first time to travel to usa...i can still remember the 4th time I was interviewed it was a calm relaxing one....in short it pays to be prepared and be honest and truthful with the consul...and definitely prayers helped a lot.

So it sounds like if you can somehow show on both paper and in-person attitude that you're honest and have no ill-intentions, be well-prepared, sprinkle that with a little luck (lucky in that your interviewer is understanding enough), and a little prayer ;) then things may just work out. If you got nothing to hide, and you're not lying about anything, then I guess there really isn't any reason to be nervous at the interview except for the fact that you're being interrogated hehe.

@SennaBrigante, I'm actually quite shocked that it only takes a month from application to interview. Even though this is a US process, this is still the Philippines we're dealing with, and they are infamous at being slow at everything rofl.gif My fiance and I have been living separated like this for 8 years or so, I visit her twice a year 3 weeks each, waiting on her neverending annulment case to end, and I never even thought about trying for a Tourist Visa. I assumed that we didn't have a chance at all so I never tried, but thinking it may only be a month to get her here, is getting me excited...I probably shouldn't be setting myself up for disappointment though...

Thanks for giving me hope guys. I think we'll take our chances and see how it goes!

In your case I would recommend a LOT of prayer.

Just wondering how long it takes to get a PI Visa?

Some consuls speak and understand Tagalog but there are translators available

No medical needed for the tourist visa.

Yes, interview can be done in Tagalog if requested. However, this will definitely lessen the probability of her tourist visa approval.
