My MIL just received her PR in Feb 13, we are currently at NVC for her minor son and I need to complete Affidavit of Support for this case. She works but she doesn't earn enough money to sponsor him. My husband and I do so we are going to be the sponsor. Does she still have to be a sponsor (or complete any of the I-864) paperwork since she is the petitioner or do my husband and I complete the paperwork only?

hi

yes, as said, as the petitioner she is the primary sponsor, you are the joint sponsor and your husband your household member

she will file the i864 as sponsor, you will file another i864 as joint sponsor and your husband will file the i864A as household member
