NVC case number acquisition

hi all,

Our 1-130 was approved on the 18th of Dec. Then we went away for 2 weeks on holiday. 1 day after returning we received our hard copy of the approval stating that our case has been forwarded to the NVC and that we should 'allow a minimum of 30 days' before making contact.

However I'd read on here that we should make contact earlier to move things along quicker. So I called in this morning and was told that they had received my application yesterday and would have a case number in 20 days after which they would send out the choice of agent thingy blah blah blah. Our line was patchy so I’m not sure if the lady was trying to ditch me. I’ve read about the dreaded postal system. Is it sstill to be feared?

Is this normal (should we just wait)? I’ve done some research but it seems the process changes frequently. I just want to make sure we’re doing all we can to push it through as fast as possible.

Call, call, call! Call you little heart out Once they have received it, it can take up to 20 days but its usually quicker. We got ours in 13 business days, some are shorter, some are longer. I started calling every other day, sometimes every day to see if they had our case number. Every single time I called they just said we received on such and such a date and to try back, always very nice.

You are doing the right thing by calling thats all you can do. But in the meantime go here to the NVC filers thread read post #1 and #2 so you know what to do online and such at NVC.
