Work Permit.....AOS.......Please Help!!!

Hello VJ once again.......My husband is currently on the AOS processing at this time as he came on a fiance visa. We submitted the application in December, I have heard that applying for a work permit may not be worth as it may probably arrive around the same time as the green card....Has anyone have that experience??? We would love to know as my husband and I have not decided what to do with the work permit since we would like to save that money if possible.......Also I've read in this website under the guides for work permit that if a person is applying at the same time or during the time AOS is pending they do not have to pay the fees for the working permit....Is this true??? Please let me know what have been your experience with this, and if you have applied for a permit how long did it take to receive it as well as the AOS to be completed.......lots of thanksssss in advanced

Not sure if I understood your question, I am sorry. But you should apply for the Work Permit AT the same time you apply to the green card, this way you don't need to pay an extra fee for the work permit alone, besides the work permit should arrive before the Green card if you do like this.

It will not cost you anything to send in the I-765 application. Just include a copy of your NOA1 from your I-485 application. The EAD takes about 2 to 3 months to receive, whereas the green card takes about 6 months to a year or more to receive.

NOA1:  05/24/2017;  Biometrics:  06/13/2017;  Approved without interview:  09/05/2018;  10 Yr Green card Received:  09/13/2018

08/09/2020 -- Filed N-400 online

08/09/2020 -- NOA1 date

08/11/2020 -- NOA1 received in the mail

12/30/2020 -- Received notice online that an interview was scheduled

02/11/2021 -- Interview

I have sent the I-485 already...this is such great news to me and my husband as he really needs the workpermit but we would like to save some money......Thank you all so much for the clarification...I never get tire of saying this website is such a great source for us....God bless this webiste and May God bless you all!
