In September 2011 I began dating a Brazilian girl. Things were great and we were in love and in October 2012 I received my USCIS Acceptance Confirmation, that the petitioning process had began. Her behavior began changing during the waiting period and I saw some serious red flags. When I tried to talk to her about the red flags she freaked out and broke up with me. She wanted to get back together shortly after but I thought we definitely weren't ready for marriage. I sent a letter ending the k-1 petition before the initial review was over, I think January or early February 2013, 4-5 months into the processing.

I had made a Ukrainian friend that I was talking to shortly after I ended relations with my ex. We were just talking as friends until I went to visit this past August 2013. We became romantically involved and by September I was officially in a long distance relationship again with a foreign girl. Was really something I told myself I would never ever do again. If you met this girl you would understand. Smart, funny, and the most genuinely nice person I ever met. Amazing in every way, and any issue I ever had with my ex, this girl makes up for in spades.

I want to marry this girl eventually, not sure when, but when I do I'm really worried that my first petition will interfere with trying to marry this second girl. Some questions..

1) Is it true that I need to wait 2 years after my first petition to apply for a 2nd?

2) If so is that 2 years after I first applied? Or 2 years after I canceled. There is a 5 month difference for me.

3) How much longer/rigorous will the process be with the USCIS knowing I applied already? I canceled before the initial review was over, does it help?

4) I haven't told the Ukrainian girl that I had already petitioned for a K-1 in the past. I didn't want to make her jealous. Also the whole situation was embarrassing for me so I really just try to kick it under the rug. If she gets an interview one day will they ask her questions about it? Should I just tell her anyway?

Sorry for all these questions.. I have no idea how my life got so complicated. I heard all the jokes "why not just get an american girl blah blah" my life just worked out this way. Every decision I've made was 100% sincere.

My suggestion is wait until you are sure. then move forward at that time. Keep in mind you can file for a K-1 twice in your lifetime. Make sure this one sticks. You can apply more, but you need a waver and you will be scrutinized.

The K-1 is not an opportunity to kick the tires and see how you feel about her. You have 90 days after entry to get married. Best to be sure BEFORE you file.

1) Is it true that I need to wait 2 years after my first petition to apply for a 2nd? No its not true

2) If so is that 2 years after I first applied? Or 2 years after I canceled. There is a 5 month difference for me. No waiting

3) How much longer/rigorous will the process be with the USCIS knowing I applied already? I canceled before the initial review was over, does it help? Its not that it will be rigorous. You will submit evidence and intent like before. The scrutiny will be at interview. Which bring me to your next question

Well if you are going to eventually petition her you have no choice but to tell her because it will come up at interview. And if she doesn't know that is a guarantee denial.

Why would she be jealous she is the love of your life now the past is the past. Tell her

Hi, as a representative of Ukrainian ¨girl¨, so to say, I can speak for myself that if the guy wants to be in a relationship i would like to know important details from his past, especially if I am in love and think of serious relationship. It does not mean that all of us want to know the ¨dark past¨ rofl.gif of potential husband or boyfriend, but a great part of us would appreciate some openess from a guy. It all depends how u tell her and if u are able to communicate good enough, if she speaks english well and understands all the things, and in general Ukrainian ladies we are all different, so I can give you only a short overview of how we take things.

Short questions from my side:

1. How old she is, and do u have a large age difference?

2. Have you met her family?

3. Where did you met her?

Cheers!

Hi Loving_girl

I know what you mean. I guess I really really want everything to go perfect with this girl and I just don't want to mess it up. I understand what you are saying.. I'm bad with words sometimes I want to tell her I just want to do it the right way. She is planing to come to the USA with a work internship.. i think it would be better to tell her in person after we spend more time together and I can hug her. Having serious conversations at a distance is difficult.

your questions.

1. She is 23 and I am 26.

2. I never met her family directly. I met her best friend in person. Her mom says hello to me over the phone often :) Her mother also bought me a christmas present.

3. I met her on a language learning website "Livemocha.com" (actually is the same way I met the first girl... I think she would really hate that. It appears like I am shopping for girlfriends on this website and it REALLY isn't the case. She thinks our situation is special and unique and i'm afraid she would feel less special if I told her about the first girl) I've been to Ukraine twice to meet her in person, once in August and again at the end of December.

From what you told, she seems to be a nice person, though it's always better to be aware of things (cos we have lots of scummers on the dating sites, agencies etc...meaning girls looking for sponsors, that's why i asked you those 3 questions to have at least some overview of the person).

From a female point of view, sometimes we take the truth that is told after a while as a kind of an offence, so think what is better. I mean if you decide to wait until she comes to the USA (if it's internship I assume it's work and travel program?) and tell about your past K-1 petition, any way you talk to her often you should better know her caracter and reaction about certain things.

Both of you are still young (thoungh I am not much older than you rofl.gif ) so you can take your time for knowing each other better and seeing how the things will go. What I may assure you is that a marriage is a big thing, so you better have some life experience and really be confident in the person, live with person for a while to see how you react at each other in "closed space"dancin5hr.gif cos being 24hours in the same house/apartment and facing good and bad things is totally different than having romantic dates and seing each other all dressed up and beautiful luv.gif . I say any way you will HAVE to tell the truth in any relationship, but the thing is how to tell it, so the person is not feeling used etc.
