I received my NOA2 today in the mail, with an approval date of 19 Dec 13, and I am really confused on how to proceed at this point. I figured it would include some information about the NVC, a case number, something in order to continue tracking it. It states that "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance." I saw some copies of what other people's NOA2's look like and they all specifically say that they were sent to the NVC for processing.

So, I am confused on whether I need to contact the NVC for a case number and follow that route (once the holidays are over) or if we are good to begin processing all the documentation to setup an interview. My fiance hasn't received anything yet.

No it does not include your case number...since it has been sent out this long nvc should have received it already.....call nvc give them the case number you have on your current document....they will then ask you for the petitioner and beneficiary name and date of birth...then they will give you the case number....congrats

First, timeline.gif so other people can help you here.

I don't know which service center was processing your case file. Anyhow, after you got an approval, your case file sent to NVC for more processing and will forwarded to listed consulate. Everyone received NOA-2 hardcopy contain the information both of petitioner and beneficiary and briefly steps what you should do for the next.

You can wait a few weeks before call NVC or DoS (Visa Unit) to get your case number. Please looked up to my timeline on signature to see the general process. Good luck!
