How long does it take uscis to make a decision about a response to an rfe? They received my response on 12/15 and today is 1/7 and still no word from uscis. My rfe was for letter of intent....this is ridiculous. Way to start the new year.....

Hi! My boyfriend filed the Petiton last nove 20, 2014 in csc and he did not include the cover letter or the proof of evidence of our relationship etc. yet he received a Receipt letter december 12, from the uscis stating that they will process our petition. Now were waiting till we got the next letter. Should it be the rfe?

Hi, yes you will probably receive an rfe requesting evidence that you both have met within the last 2 years. The notification you received just means that they have received your application but it does not mean that everything is ok with the application. You can call USCIS and ask if you can submit the missing evidence before you receive the rfe. I don't know if that would work. I filed my petition on September and it took over 2 months for USCIS send me my rfe. I hope this helps.

Yes you will probably get an RFE. Everyone gets an NOA1 first. Then comes the RFEs (if any) and then NOA2 (hopefully).

Hi Everyone!

Just received our NOA1 this 01/12/15. Just wanna ask if it's not such a big deal that we didn't hire a lawyer? Has anyone had any experience having a harder time with the process when they didn't hire a lawyer?

Hi, we didnt hire a lawyer or an agent. We did it on our own. We didnt encounter any problems. As long as you read and understand the instructions and procedures, you will be fine. And of course we asked some of those who are done with the process already.

Filed our case July 29 2014. Got our visa on hanf Jan 09 2015.

Received the mailed notice of my RFE today - it's for something we submitted with the original petition! Oh well - I'm just glad it's something really easy to take care of. They asked for proof that my fiancée intends to marry me within 90 days of her admittance to the US, which can be a statement (we sent this, but I guess they overlooked it). I do have a few questions if anyone can help:

  1. They provided an envelope to mail back the requested evidence. Does that mean I need to mail it in that envelope? I had intended to overnight it via Priority Mail, but can I not do that?
  2. I want to include some more evidence that we've met in person (more boarding passes, passport stamps), because I only included my passport stamps from my first visit to see her a year ago. They didn't ask for that, but I'm afraid they might down the line, and the last thing I want is to get hit with another RFE. Is it a bad idea for me to include more proof of meeting with the statement saying my fiancée intends to marry me within 90 days?
  3. Should I mail back a copy of the notice or mail back the original and keep a copy for myself?

Thanks for any help!
