I am the US citizen and am presently completing the DS-260 form. I am presently in the USA and my fiance is in Laos. I am doing the form being my fiance's English may not be up for it.

I have completed the form and am on the last page where it asks for a signature. Can I click the sign and submit button or must it be my fiance?

Also, can I submit this form ahead of submitting the DS-160.

Thanks.

Did the instructions from your consulate tell you to fill out the DS-260 for a K-1? For a K-1, you need the DS-160. The consulates are not supposed to accept the DS-260 for a K-1 any longer.

Yes, it appears the consulate is asking for it.

See the bottom of the page where it seems to be asking for it.

Any tips regarding how to sign it?

For fiance visa you need ds-160 no ds-260.

What is that form for? Ds-260?

That is for an immigrant, family-based visa, like the CR-1. For a K-1, you use the DS-160 only. See this site for required documentation for a K-1 > http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

I noticed the instructions on the consulate site are from 2012 and outdated too. The DS-160 replaces all those other DS forms it lists.

Oh my God! Did I read the instructions wrong? I guess this is good news except I poured so much attention into completely the DS-260. Live and learn.

Thanks for your help you guys.
