Hello. I just registered because I'm just starting the K-1 process. I don't know how common this question is so I'm sorry if it's been asked a million times. My fiance lives and works in Thailand, but she is from the Philippines. Will she be able to interview at the embassy in Thailand or will she need to return to her home country to complete the proccess?

Thanks.

If she legally resides and works in Thailand, then she can do her K-1 interview there. Just put her Thailand address on the forms and state the embassy in Thailand as the one where she will apply for a visa abroad on the I-129F.

If she is Filipino citizen, then she needs to return here in Philippines to process your visa.Advise her to get police certificate before she leave in Thailand.

Why does she need to return to the Philippines to apply for the K-1 if she is legally residing in Thailand and will be living there when it is time to apply for the visa?

Korea and Thailand US consulates has different rules but in my understanding as long as she is legally residing and working in thailand she can do her interview there. As my experience I am a Filipina legally working and living here in Hong kong I had it done my Visa Here... good luck

Thanks everyone. Yes, she is legally working as a teacher in Thailand, has the visa and work permit for it.

I spent time in Korea as well, and while I don't know for sure, I could beleve the the rules would be a little more strict there, on account of just about everything being more strict there in regards to immigration, even if it doesn't involve a Korean or moving to Korea.

Hopfully, she will be fine in Bangkok. If she does have to go back to the Philippines, it would be tough, as her family is in Mindoro, no where near Manila.
