I'm lucky, when it's finally time to head off to the states, I'll be moving to the one city that actually is full of Tim Hortons locations. Columbus, OH: home of Wendy's headquarters, thus also home to Timmies :D

Damn you people of OHIO!!! No Tims here around the Nations Capital!! Time to start planning another trip back to SK!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Actually, you could satisfy the Timmy's craving by making a trip to either Columbus (toll-charge avoidable by using I-68, I-79, I-70 route) or the Flint-Toledo corridor (which includes Detroit metro area; toll charge in this case nasty, as OH turnpike completely unavoidable).

In my case, I have such a trip (latter with toll-charge) already planned in less than six weeks (for my wedding).

(OK, I'll extend you a virtual invitation--so long as you're willing to attend the 4/14 evening message at Vassar; url of LEF's Easter Retreat flyer, which has directions to Vassar, below).

Here in WNY we have quite a few Tim Horton's....thank goodness!!! But I was just reminded yesterday of the things we do not have...Smarties, Aero Bars, Coffee Crisp or Humpty Dumpty chips. Thankfully my parents can bring some to me whenever I get low...lol. Any other Canadians notice though that the fast food tastes different here?

LOL I'm right there with ya Cassie! I think we need some Timmy's here in the South! Since it will be several years before Joel and I can go home to Nova Scotia (yes, to me it's home, even though I'm a USC) we need some franchises down here. Until then, maybe my future mother in law can ship some Tim's here. :D

Thank goodness for parents, eh? :P

When I lived in Texas as a teenager, the one thing from Canada I missed most of all was ketchup chips (I wasn't old enough to have established my Tim Horton's habit yet). They just do not exist there! I worked at a grocery store and once asked our chip distributor guy about it and all I got was an odd look ;) Luckily my parents were nice enough to bring me back some after they took a trip up north for a wedding.
