Preemptive DNA Testing?

My niece is also undergoing the visa process, but is getting married in February & then filing the application. Her fiance is also from Haiti. They have a baby together as well (she meets her daddy for the first time in January!)

Problem is, mom is brown-hair, brunet Caucasian. Dad is black Haitian. Baby is blond-hair blue eyed... and I mean SKY blue eyes! And yes, I know the question is... it is really his kid. Yes it is. Not a doubt in my mind, because I know my niece & this is her one-and-only. So, I'm suggesting they look into getting a DNA test before they even file, so they have it for the "proof" portion as well as if there are questions. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any ideas on how they can best get the test done? Her fiance is in school in Dominican Republic. Can they do the test there, or do they need to do something else?

If they do ask for a DNA test, it has to be done by a clinic or facility that they recommend. At least that's what I know. Hopefully I'm wrong.

DNA testing must be done by an AABB accredited lab. These usually aren't freely available in many countries.

I think they should wait to have the DNA... IF it is requested. Since the beneficiary is the father, I do not see why they would need a DNA test. I've often heard of the vice versa, when the mother or the child is the beneficiary.

Waste of money to do a DNA test ahead of time it would never be accepted. You have to wait until interview and if approved than they will make appointment for you to come in and get swabbed with child and mother and send test to US for testing. It takes 2 to 3 months after interview.

Because its Haiti and so much press about children being stolen a DNA test probably will be asked for especially with a dad taking a child.

So just submit if you want birth certificate get mom to sign an affidavit about the dad and he's the father and the relationship ended or whatever.

The baby is a US citizen, born here & with mom. SO I think they won't need one, from what you're saying. Andif they do, then they'll have to just go with the process. Thanks all!
