The old passport has a CFO (Commission of Filipinos Overseas) certificate stapled to it.

We renewed the passport so that her new name appears on it. As far as I can tell there is no CFO sticker/mark/stamp/certificate anywhere.

What happens with the CFO certificate? Is it marked on the new passport somewhere? Does she need to go through that course again?? At the airport, do they just look at the Green Card? How does this work?

Don't need the CFO sticker, that is for those immigrating from the Philippines (your wife has - been there, done that smile.png ), your wife only needs to show her green card and all is fine.

What Hank said. It's old news now. BUT... when we were in the PI in October, one of the ticket agents tried to tell us she had to have it to leave the PI. I politely told her, "No, she did that already. She is now traveling on her PI passport and her US GC, therefore it is not needed." Took a minute, but we got over that hurdle.

Then the agent tried to tell us she could not travel to Korea without onward itinerary to the US. I told her we were going to buy said ticket in Korea after we arrived (she had a 30-day visa in her passport; without the passport, onward ticket IS required to travel to Korea). I had to say that about 5 times before she finally gave up and issued my wife her ticket (which we had bought in Korea previously, it was the return portion of a round-trip from Korea to PI and back to Korea).

My point is, even though you learn stuff here that is (usually) correct, that does not mean everyone in the PI will know it too. Sometimes you have to be firm with them. Just gotta make SURE you're korek, of course!

Thanks for the replies. We will keep that in mind when traveling. No matter where you go in this world you will always run into officials that have the wrong information and in those cases it doesn't matter how right you are. I like the idea of bringing the old passport just in case.
