Feel free to look it up, I am pretty certain that SLEC's panel of physician goes by the 2007 TB Technical Instructions mandated by CDC.

Feel free to search VJ here... posts all over this forum for YEARS - 2 months for the Sputum test, 6 months for the treatment .... not rocket science

Uhm, Guys, I would like to apologized that my curiosity causes misunderstanding here..

Thank you everyone for the assessment! I know I am healthy and won't need sputum or treatment..

I will pass the medical..:)

Oh, another thing:

our Petition is valid only 4 months..We were approved on October and they only gave me until February 17 to enter the US.

But i also believed that after my visa will be approve, They will give me 6 months to enter the US..am i right? or wrong.? which is which?

.now, i'm really confused...:(

Don't worry about the petition validity - the embassy automatically renews it anyways.

Once you get the visa, you will notice the validity of the visa is 6 months from the date you took your medical. This means that you will have that length of time to enter the US on it.

Once you enter, you have 90 days from the date of entry to get married.

it is really quite disturbing and depressing at the same time the "YOU" are under the false assumption that all "K1" (as you would like to me stay on the K1 thread) will be issued a maximum validity of 6 month regardless of the medical result of the applicant. As I have said before and I will say it again, that "NOT ALL K1" will be granted 6 months validity (contrary to your belief) and that the medical validity of those "K1" applicants (still on the K1 thread) who had undergone TB treatment will be limited for 3 months.

By the way, infusing sarcasm on this thread does not get you anywhere... guess you'll just have to try harder if you want to prove your point...

TB treatment at SLEC is 6 months. And then they undergo a new medical. The validity of the ensuing visa is 6 months from this new medical date.

At what point does the passport required? Just at the interview and the medical? Rose's daughter doesn't have the passport yet and I am wondering if we can do the same thing....pay visa fees and then schedule the interview while waiting on the passport for her daughter. Advice?

K1 visa is valid for 6 months, and for USEM regarding the K1 visa the clock starts at the date of the medical. As said from the get-go.

If TB treatment has to be completed (which takes 6 months in the Philippines) the visa applicant is then required to complete a new medical... and that date will be when the clock starts ticking for the K-1 visa validity.

None of this means that upon issuance of the K1 visa will have 6 months of validity from date of issuance... I have never said that.

Where you PFA

I don't have to try harder to prove a point, you have to show ACTUAL fact relating to USEM to substantiate what you are trying to sell. I don't PFA a number as you are doing with "3 months" if they undergo TB treatment. Get real.

Facts are:

The maximum validity for the K-1 visa IS 6 months, and for USEM (U.S. Embassy Manila) the date the clock starts ticking is from the date of the medical. This does not mean the K-1 visa has 6 months of validity upon issuance, never said that.... as many times as I have repeated this to you. And (one more time) - if a person has to undergo treatment for TB they are required to get a new medical... thus a new medical date.

Jeez~

Here this may help you: http://manila.usembassy.gov/kvisas.html

What if the fiancé(e) must delay their arrival in the U.S.?

The K-1 visa is valid for a maximum of six months. If the visa bearer is unable to leave for the United States immediately and the visa expires, a new one may be issued upon written request to the Embassy and the payment of another application fee of $240.

(There are more links on the USEM website stating the 6 months validity if you want to do a minimal of searching)

**If this tread is going nowhere is only because you can't accept what are the facts for USEM.

Just wanted to add that in some consulates, the K1 might be valid for less than 6 months from the medical, if the applicant has a history of TB or HIV. Singapore is definitely one of them (3 months validity). If the applicant wishes to delay entering the US, they would have to pay for a new medical which would also be valid for 3 months from the medical. Since there is so much variance at the consulate stage, I've no idea if Manila actually adheres to this.

I did find this old thread that suggests the applicant (who has a history of TB) was informed her medical would be valid for 3 months/90 days, but the OP never posted back to confirm this.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
