If my wife heard someone speaking Spanish in the USCIS waiting room, would walk up to them and ask them where they are from. Made many new friends that way. We even set up a club with ten couples that would meet once a month, what we had in common was immigration. Guys were the sponsoring US citizens, we had a blast joking about being married to Latin American women.

She did make a couple of friends one of them lived over 300 miles away, so kept in contact via phone. We were all helping each other, but could only meet with them about once per year.
