Hi all. I've relatively new to this forum so forgive me if this topic has already been addressed...

I'm beginning to put together the package for a K-1 Visa for my fiance to come to the States from Taiwan for us to get married. I have a few questions...

1. I'm a US Citizen naturalized via my parents. I don't have any paperwork as for as Naturalization Certificates. I do have a US Passport. In the application 1-129F, it states that I can use my US Passport but with a validity of 5 years. I have 4 years left on my current passport. What is another form of prove of my citizenship?

2. While my K-1 package is being processed, is it possible for my fiance to come to the States for a short vacation (2 weeks)? I understand that Taiwan has a Visa Waiver Program and she can pretty much come to the States whenever she wants prior to the K-1. Will vacationing in the States during the processing period raise any red flags?

Thanks for all you guys' help! I really appreciate all the feedback!

1) I just read the instructions. What is meant by a validity period of at least 5 years is, I believe, in reference to when the passport was issued, it had a valid period of at least 5 years, not the amount of time remaining until it has to be renewed. It would be quite silly otherwise.

2) I'll leave a definitive answer to someone who has had that experience. My guess is, that the potential problem is thatshe can't lie as to the reason for her visit, and if she is honest - and she needs to be - they may deny her a tourist visa....
