I was just sitting here reading the recent post and decided to call NVC and to my major surprise, the woman that answered started asking question and then asked what she could do for me and I asked if there was a case number yet, and she replied "yes there is". My NOA 2 approval was on Oct 1, when I called on Friday 5 minutes before they closed it wasn't there and now it is, so we are one day shy of 5 weeks. For all of you that are ready to give up don't, it will happen! On to the next!

Yay, congrats finally you've got your case number. I've got mine less than 2 weeks after approval date on USCIS website. Based on my experience, when I made a call early morning the lady on the phone said they still don't have it yet. But in the afternoon I tried to make a call again and another lady finally gave me my case number after asking petitioner (name and DoB) beneficiary (name and DoB), and who was making a call. Don't believe about wait up to 6-8 weeks because I knew some VJers here already got their case number less than 2 weeks.

My guessing is, they probably uploaded data into system in early morning (if arrived in afternoon) or uploaded data in afternoon (if arrived in the morning) when you call them at certain times they still don't have it yet and suddenly they have had it into the system when you called them for the next few hours. It also interesting to see that I always get an update from both USCIS and CEAC websites many hours after working time was finished in US - in the morning in my local time-.
