I got my Conditional GC via adjustment of status when my husband petitioned me 9 months ago. I havent been home for almost 8 years so he and my dad pitch in and got me a rountrip ticket this Christmas as a gift. I am so happy but anxious as well. I have alot of things running on my mind and i would like to hear your thoughts on these:

1. I will be out of the country for exactly 35 days, my husband is staying here in the US. Do i need to get a re-entry permit before leaving?

2. My passport is on my maiden name but my GC and Other documents are under my married name. Will I encounter any problem on my trip? My plane ticket is my maiden name.

3. Since I was out of Status for awhile, but now on Conditional GC, is still possible that I encounter problems when i come home here in the US?

Is there any other steps I need to do before i leave the US?

All anWers are highly appreciated. Thank you.

1) No.

2) Bring a copy of your marriage certificate along with you, to document the disparity in your name (married name vs. maiden name).

3) Not unless you are otherwise inadmissible; the overstay is no longer an issue since you have a green card.

Yes, RELAX. That is why you have the GC--to be able to re-enter the US after a short trip abroad.

Have a great trip,

Dave
