Hopefully this is nothing but I noticed on the us embassy website when I check my case status (in transit to Cuba) that my case number works in the "Immigrant visa" category but when I input it to the "non-immigrant"(which I understand is where it should be) it says there is no such case number. Has this happened to anyone and would you expect this to be an issue?

Hopefully I'm over-paranoid but thought I'd check...

Thanks!

Yes, it is true. When I tried to put my case number to non-immigrant visa it says invalid. But, I read a while back on here that embassy/consulate put K-1 visa as an immigrant visa. So, if something goes wrong at least we are both on same boat, lol. content.gif

Edit:

A K-1 visa is a dual intent visa issued to the fiancé or fiancée of a United States citizen to enter the United States. A K-1 visa requires a foreigner to marry his or her U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of entry. Once the couple marries, the foreign citizen can adjust status to become a lawful permanent resident of the United States (Green Card holder). Although a K-1 visa is legally classified as a non-immigrant visa, it usually leads to important immigration benefits and is therefore often processed by the Immigrant Visa section ofUnited States embassies and consulates worldwide. If a K-1 visa holder does not marry his or her U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of entry, then he or she must depart the United States within 30 days.

K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but usually the immigrant unit of the consulate deals with these visas and conducts the interviews. I imagine this is because there is more to a K-1 visa than other non-immigrant visas. The consulate designation there might just mean that it is going to the immigrant unit. Don't worry about it, because they know what it is.
