My Fiance had her K-1 interview in Guangzhou, China 10/8/2013

There was what i can only call confusion during her interview and they didn't not acknowledge that i had submitted my tax return.

She was given a letter requesting i submit her passport and and my tax return by mail.

We submitted the information through Citic Bank the next day, with expected arrival at embassy of 10/11/2013.

The letter only had a request for the documents and no other notes about further processing, review, etc.

From what i can gather, it says her visa is approved pending additional documentation, although that was not entirely clear as part of the page was cutoff.

Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as further action and/or timeline?

i will take any input, but anyone with specific experience from the Guangzhou consulate would be very helpful.

we went through something similar, recently, with the china national holiday thrown in for good measure.

what you can expect:

1. packet arrives from CITIC Bank courier.

2. packet winds its way from the mailroom into the area where the casefile is

3. Visa Officer reviews the stuff

4. Visa Officer updates ceac.state.gov to ISSUED status

5. visa packet is generated

6. visa packet gets to the mailroom

7. visa packet is picked up by CITIC Bank Courier

8. visa packet in transit to the location picked in the document cover sheet.

how long, you ask? once it hits 3, expect 2 to 3 weeks - that's what I was told by a human manning the cgi/stanley/guangzhou help desk, earlier in the week.

2,3,5 have queues. impossible to predict just how fast it'll stay in each queue before a human does something.

My wife was very confused by 'status' on interview day - however that sheet clearly states 'approved' and asks for more stuff. IMO, yer lucky on what is an easy thing, tbh.

thanks darnell, good info.

we are currently listed as delivered to post

just frustrating, they had the info they wanted, they just didnt recognize it

i do my taxes online, and left the H&R Block cover sheet on my 1040, neither examiner took the moment to go a couple pages into the doc despite my fiances insistence

i thought i was doing them a favor by leaving a tidy summary of relevant information on the doc...apparently i was shooting myself in the foot

had they let me attend this would have been resolved on the spot in a few seconds
